Just got mine today, one thing that I noticed is that the wood cups rattle a bit. They are not firmly in place, they instead rattle in and out just a tiny amount. Is that normal, or do I have to tighten some screws internally (I'd rather not have to)? Doesn't seem to cause and sound changes, just a little annoying when I move my head and the rattle is amplified internally.

I got mine yesterday, the wood cups seem to be really secure. I don't hear, feel, or detect any rattle. That said, all of the other moving parts indeed rattle or squeak when I move them around - but none of that matters when wearing them. See my recent comment . . . do your wood cups look purple or brown tinted to you? Cheers.

I see, I saw an earlier post explaining that there are 2 screws behind the driver housing that hold the cups on and that they can be tightened if the cups get loose. As for the color, it is like halfway between purple and brown. Purpleheart oxidizes into a brown color, so the more brown your pair, the longer it has sat around somewhere. I'm not sure if they all come out of the same warehouse, but my tracking showed my pair coming from the usual New Jersey warehouse. Honestly it looks good to me regardless, but I also was expecting this oxidation so I'm not really upset by it.

Cool, didn't know about the oxidation. Like you, I think they look very good anyway. Regarding the loose cups, you would think that they would be 100% secure and tight when they leave the factory. Hmmm.

Yeah I would've hoped so, but apparently not and I'm not the only one in this discussion thread even. The guy at Drop who designed this pair said in an earlier post about the same issue to just take the pads off, undo the 2 screws holding the driver cover, and behind there tighten the 2 screws holding the cups in place. Its at least an easy fix, but I dont feel like taking eveeything apart, esp since it doesnt change the sound at all if they rattle a bit.
