People wait years for boutique amplifiers like these to be made. Go look at EC's higher up offerings or Donald North's stuff, people have waited a year and a half for their Stratus to be made and they enjoyed every minute of it.
This is not to say everyone has to like waiting for ages but if you're getting something this exclusive it sorta comes with the territory. Like it? Take it. Don't like it? Leave it. 6~ months is a very reasonable time period for a unit like this, all things considered.
I don't know if I would go as far as to call this a boutique amp. Also I don't think this is being made by EC and not in the US.
I am not saying there is anything wrong with who is making it or where it is being made. However I don't think we need to misconstrue the facts about this amp.
Definitely leaving it. I have an Eddie Current Aficionado on order and thats only taking three months, and I don't have to pay for the whole thing upfront.
I‘m sure this is worth it to people with more patience than I have.
I didn't misconstrue anything, everything I stated is factual and I stand by it ipsis verbis.
It's definitely not being made by EC and it is indeed being manufactured in Russia. Where did I say it was? I was drawing a comparison between similar manufacturers rather than implying Craig is responsible for manufacture; this was made further explicit when I also mentioned DNA (who makes the Stratus), I really didn't think it'd be open for interpretation.
Regarding my use of word boutique, I also think there's hardly anything wrong with it - I didn't say this amp is boutique, I meant EC and DNA are and this here is about as close to the definition of the word as we're gonna get on Massdrop (for now), in my opinion. Maybe my opinion will change when CT works something out with Craig to bring an actual Zana Deux x MD collab to the table (or a Black Widow lite) but until then...
