Hey everyone,
Thanks to strong community support of the Ferrum Forge Falcon design, we're able to re-introduce this knife with a new precision-milled Wing pattern in two new colors. The Falcon is the first ever "Massdrop Made" knife, and the starting point for more collaborations between Ferrum Forge, WE Knife, and Massdrop including Crux and Gent models. It's hard to describe how awesome these guys are to work with, and how dedicated everyone on both of their teams are to delivering a product everyone is proud to have their name on. We are grateful that the community liked this one so much that we're able to bring back this popular model with a sweet facelift.
In addition to the milling pattern, the specific finishing process that you see on these was developed in close collaboration between Ferrum Forge and WE Knife. This model also features the newly-redesigned pocket clip, which offers greater flexibility and resistance to deformation or breakage. Driven by community feedback, and lab-tested to verify the improvements, this design change was implemented in a remarkably short timeframe. Per the Note on Description page, this knife is being offered to members who join this pre-production drop at a special price of $139.99, with serial numbers under #0500 (per color) guaranteed to everyone who joins. Please also note that we will be closing the drop at 10:00 pm on 1/31/18 in order to get a jump on production, and then reopening for the whole month of February (or while supplies last). We have posted an Estimated Ship Date of 6/29/18, but we hope this will enable us to reduce the lead time for production.
Thanks to everyone who joined past drops for the Falcon, as well as all the members who are just hearing about the Falcon for the first time.

JonasHeinemanWhat kind of finish is done to these? The gray is obviously just some surface treatment of the base titanium, the bronze is probably anodized, and the black one, is that a DLC coating?
IATerakahnThe blue is just a vanilla Falcon with an anodization job, the bronze is probably anodized too. Anodization uses heat, electricity, chemical interference, or all three to modify the color of the metal. It's not a coating, it's the actual titanium taking on a color.
The black might be a smooth DLC-type of coating, I think DLC is always baked on and it typically resists scratching and corrosion pretty well.
OmniseedJust to be clear, as I understand it anodization thickens the surface oxidation layer in a controlled manner. It may be semantically correct to say that it's not a coating (I don't know and don't care to look it up), but either way I'd call "the actual titanium taking on a color" a bit misleading. It's still a thin surface layer which can be scratched or worn to reveal the normal metal's color beneath, but it won't flake off over time.
JonasHeinemanCan you guys do some more chamfering to the inside of the lock bar where the thumb goes to disengage? It would help with the ergonomics quite a bit.
Ares78Are you asking for a reduction in the height of the scale that is opposite the lockbar to create more exposure for the thumb? Or are you suggesting that changing the inside surface of the lockbar, above the insert, would give you a better grip? It's unlikely the design will change at this point, but I'm interested to learn what exactly it is you're seeing/feeling that you think needs improvement. Is the question in reference to an original Falcon that you already own, or based on photos that you see here? If you can share a bit more detail or some photos that would help to inform us about future projects. Thanks.
JonasHeinemanI would like to see a slightly curved and bigger chamfer on the actual lock bar itself. Of course, ideally I‘d like to see both more clearance and a bigger chamfered surface but that would require the scale opposite to the lock bar to be redesigned. This ”request” I suppose applies to the Falcon and the Crux (and maybe the gent but I’m still waiting for delivery). I own 2 Falcons (the original grey one and the new electric blue one) and based on the images for the wings edition, there doesn’t seem to be any major redesigns other than the wing pattern and the new clip, and since we are pre-ordering I figured that not all of the wings knives have been made yet which leaves room for possible changes. As for future products, I think you guys can easily make changes to the Crux since it already has extra clearance for the lock bar.
(from top to bottom: Best Tech 1706, Rike Knife RK1508s, Spyderco Slysz Bowie, Crux, and Falcon)
Ideally I’d like to see something similar to the 1706 with the extra clearance and a larger chamfered area to apply force to. Or alternatively you can do what Rike does which is to chamfer both sides to help with ergonomics. The Slysz Bowie is similar to the 1706 but with a much larger cutout for the spider hole and a much larger chamfered surface. By comparison the Crux and Falcon has no additional chamfered surface, which again, isn‘t the worse thing but could be better.

KevinFuHi Kevin, thanks for your interest. You're welcome to contact us here, just select "Selling on Massdrop" and a member of our buying team will get in touch: https://www.massdrop.com/support
JonasHeinemanIf I bought this knife used, is there any way I can get a replacement lockbar insert? Mine is broken and I would gladly pay for one, but I cant put in a request via email without the original order number.
