The is Absolutly the best EDC knife that I have ever purchased. At first it was difficult to flick open. However after a breakin period, the blade opening action is very smooth, not too loose, not too tight - it is now perfect.
The outer titanium finish has developed a nice patina and the blade can be honed to a rasor edge which is durable and stays very sharp. The weight and balance of this knife is ideal, from precisely slicing single sheets of paper to cutting up cardboard boxes for recycling. I wear a large/extra large work glove and this knife is perfectly at home in my hand. it has the qualities that check all the boxes to make this knife a "Lifetime Favorite." I would pay twice as much again to own this Falcon Forge Knife. Caution Blade Is Sharp!

I was skeptical about this knife after reading and watching the reviews, but wanted to see how the design and build quality at this price-point compared to top-end production US-made folders, including those by Chris Reeve and Hinderer. (It's not a fair comparison, but it is marketed as near-custom quality at production-level prices.) To be clear, you are not getting the same quality knife for 1/3 the price – it lacks a final level of refinement in construction and operation that is hard to describe but easy to sense when handling the knife. (I’ll leave out design, as that can be so subjective.) At the same time, it’s a surprisingly good knife and a bargain. Mine came perfectly centered and decently sharp, with the new-style clip. Fit and finish are very good, but I can’t comment on the durability of the finish of the scales. The detent, as others have noted, is pretty strong, and the jimping on the flipper is aggressive. That said, I don’t have any issues flipping the blade open, and it opens smoothly and quickly once you get past the detent. I don’t have large hands, and closing the knife with one hand isn’t an issue. The best thing about this knife is that for the price, there is no reason to not use it heavily as an EDC. I have a number of great Spydercos that I use daily, and this knife is a step above even though the price is comparable to many of them. If this is the style of knife you like – a small but overbuilt integral lock flipper with a fairly thick blade – it’s definitely worth considering, particularly if price is a strong consideration. If WE Knife were able to lighten the detent a hair, tone down the jimping on the flipper, and provide a deep-carry clip as an alternative, it would be close to perfect.

KL98Thank you. Those would be wonderful improvements. I didn't tumble to how bad the clip was when I wrote my review. It is.

Just to start off, this will be a long review that mostly focus on the negatives, but overall, this is a 4 star knife.
The overall of this knife is fantastic! Let's just say, for the price you are paying, you are getting a really good deal on machining, materials, and design.
Materials , Construction and Design: blade steel is s35vn, and the handle and the pocket clip is 6al4v titanium. This is pretty much the standard set of high-end materials, and this formula has been working for pretty much a decade. What is most impressive is the machining and design of these. Everything is very nicely champhered, and it comes with a 3d machined pocket clip. On top of this, it has an internal stop pin. The lines blend together very nicely, especially the blade and the handle in the closed position. This knife definitely took a lot of time to not only be designed, but also made. On paper, this shouldve definitely been at minimum a 180$ knife. And glad they are adding color options- it was a little boring as a gray handle, satin polish. This knife deserves more!
In the pocket: the knife sits well in the pocket: unobtrusive, and easy to grab when needed. but in my opinion, too much of it peeks out. You can definitely see a glint of the blade steel. I definitely prefer a less glinty look, since I dont like explaining what I am carrying, or the fact that I carry a knife (to most people)
Action: It's ok. It runs on bearings, so the falcon is smooth and fast. But, the lockbar tension is a bit too tight. You need a lot of force to break the initial tension, and the cutout in the blade is useless for opening/closing the knife (the edges are too smooth and the tension is too great, and I don't have schwarzenegger thumbs). Needless to say, this eventually tears into your thumb, and is not really good for some flipping fun.
In use: the falcon has a wide blade grind, which gives it really refined cutting abilities. The ergonomics and use of this knife is weird. It has a huge finger choil and a pretty slim handle. This forces the handling of this knife to must use the forward finger choil (as in 3 fingers on the handle, and the pointer fingermay be wrapped on the choil, or just point it elsewhere) and gives the option of placing your thumb on the side, ramp of the blade, or the first dip in the blade. I have relatively small hands, but I cannot fit my hands on the handle only, because the bottom section of the handle is shaped in a swoopy point. This annoys me, since I like to switch my grip a lot. This being said, the only option of handling this knife, is a dream. Thumb placement is one of the only ways to manipulate this knife, but that forward dip in the blade is pretty much the most secure feeling you'll ever get when handling a knife. Out of all the positive features, this definitely ranks #1. You can tell this knife was made to be used.
Pocket clip: I'm one of those unlucky 1%-ers who has a bent pocket clip. This really annoys me, since it renders the knife unable to securely sit in my pocket, and clip digs into my hand when using the knife. I hope this problem gets fixed soon, so the knife can stop sitting pretty bent out of shape on my desk.
Some improvements (just my opinion) Blade length-The forward dip, although feels very secure, makes the knife feel a lot smaller. Wishing the blade length was ~0.3 inches longer Lockbar tension- lower the lockbar tension, so I can do a pointer finger flick, like a spyderco. also, this will make it more fun Handle- get rid of the weird lanyard cutout. It's a hotspot. Just machine the scales flush with the backspacer. Handle- have a more neutral grip for the back half of the handle Pocket clip- please give an update on this fix. I know it is in the works. ~thanks!
Last positive note that I forgot to mention- the balance on this knife is on the second finger choil (on the handle) which also helps with ergonomics. it's a perfectly balanced knife.

method_burgerThey tell you that... but I've read of quite a few with the clip issue. Including me.
I think they are not being honest about the reports...

lailokenI think so too, you always have to double your failure rate.
Also got a replacement clip! Let's see how good this one is

I love my knife! It is my first and only s35vn blade and it’s a beauty. Clean lines, great symmetry, smooth opening on the bearing, and a wicked blade profile. It may look a little "vanilla" but to me the aesthetics are clean and simple for the titanium scales. It’s usually reserved as my gentlemen’s carry or when I need a great blade (vs my lesser steel blades) under 3". I do so hope this exact style will be produced as a 3.5" blade (3+ inches) in the future. I wanted to buy this one with the cool 1 sided scale but I’m holding out for a bigger version like so many others. Lol. I do own a sandvik type Klecker, vg10 Spyderco, 8cr Kershaws, Bohlër 690 Fox ALSR emergency folder and a sweet Bastion D2 razor sharp 3.5" blade too. So I have a small collection that is growing as my knowledge and budget will allow. Elmax and M390 may be the only other steels I reach for in the future. Keep up the fine work Massdrop! Make a bigger version Ferrum Forge/Massdrop.

TRexSrM390 is a great steel. I just saw a Kershaw Link in M390 for $80.00. My only M390 is a Benchmade. It's a great knife. I have been toying with the idea of an Elmax blade. I have a ZDP-189, Spyderco. Maybe one day. Getting distracted here has caused me to spend way more than enuf to have gotten an Elmax blade.

I brought the replacement titanium clip for this knife from MD and realized that the QC of these knives is terrible. The top screw was held in with Loc Tite only. The thread was completely stripped which could only happen in manufacture. I contacted Ferrum Forge who had told me they are just the designers and have nothing to do with the manufacturing of the knife. Then I had a very difficult time with MD, again proving they have no experience in manufacturing. They kept wanting a picture of the problem which in the case of a stripped thread is not possible to photograph with an ordinary camera and they simply could not understand. After many, many emails they finally sent me a return label for the clip (I no longer need) and the knife. MD does not understand the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) that anything purchased in the US can be returned to the merchant for a full refund with no questions asked for up to a year, that is the law of the land. This is the fourth knife I have had to return to MD because of manufacturing defect and each is a struggle which it should not be. I am getting increasingly turned off to MD because their customer service is so very poor and for me it it the most important thing a merchant can offer. They tell me this has not happen before which is a ridiculous and irrelevant comment because it is happening with my knife. I buy a knife to use, a return is a total hassle for me and not my ultimate goal. I am sure there are other Falcon knives or other knives out there from the same manufacturer which I believe is WE with this same problem because it is an old engineering trick to hold a screw in a stripped thread with Loc Tite. I will now always be dubious of WE's quality of manufacture because they did not want to trash the knife with this defect so they just glued it together. MD has to understand that many things that can go wrong in a knife that cannot be photographed which seems to be their boilerplate request when asking for a return. If it cannot be photographed then it becomes a struggle beyond reason. As a mechanical engineer myself I am willing to bet there is not one engineer working for MD because they certainly don't have any mechanical common sense which you don't even have to be an engineer to have. MD has to train its employees far better than they are right now or they are going to loose good customers like me.

Report from Australia on Knife knumber 0395.
Positives: Materials, build quality, FF logo, aesthetics are excellent. The Ferrum Forge fellas sure can design a handsome knife. The blue looks purplish in some lighting, which I like. Blade was very sharp and perfectly centred. Nice accoutrements (pouch and cloth) provided

Nitpicks: Smaller than I expected (my bad) Choil and handle force one grip (which is very comfortable) but it’s nice not to have to use the choil (like the American Lawman and many Spydercos) Choil eats up valuable cutting edge (My Spydie Urban has about 2mm less cutting edge due to the 50/50 choil. And it’s a much smaller and lighter knife that some would consider a secondary knife) Heavy -ish for its size Pocket clip looks fragile (but I don’t use it so I don’t really care) Lanyard hole is too small to easily fit 550 paracord (but I could probably get some through with effort but cba)
Negatives: Detent is a bit too strong ( but better too stiff than too soft...) The Massdrop billboarding on the blade is unnecessarily large and ugly. If the boss from Cold Steel finds out you are copying their work or have poached his logo guru, you could be in trouble. Develop a cool logo that is minimalist er. (And put it on the Ricasso). The FF boys learnt that lesson. Their logo used to be huuuuge.
I’m just not going to buy another Massdrop knife until you fix this. My little pyrrhic protest.
Main Gripe: Lock bar!!! Ughhh Lock bar access is poor as there’s not enough of a cut out on the display side scale, nor is there any contouring on the lock bar AND the lock bar tension is too strong. This tiresome trifecta makes the Falcon tedious to close. I find myself using my left thumb to unlock the knife because it’s hurty on my right (calloused!) thumb.
Sage words of advice to the makers who have forgotten more than I know about knife design:
Get hold of a Shirogorov 95 model and look how Sergei does the lock bar cut out and how it is contoured. Be inspired by that.
The FF Falcon IS a top drawer knife that I should use more, but, I have other options. So it remains a ‘top drawer’ knife, (literally)

Best EDC for the money ever! The blade shape and material is so perfect I'm a big fan of s35vn. The ergo is awesome in hand and for EDC its a champion. Love the almost raw like titanium as its like a blank canvas for anodizing and fine grit sanding. You deserve the last star if you get the manufacture to adjust (slightly) the following: I like a nice stiff detent like the next guy but it's too tough to use the thumb hole to open. Pocket clip rides a hair too high in my pocket, and the jimping is about a 7 on the aggressive side. Overall its in my top 5 edc (Sigil MK6, Manix 2, DPX HIT and my D2 Cutjack)

The original ferrum forge collaboration. I bought mine in the first drop and use it for work, I'm an electrician. I love the finger choil to get your hand right up on the blade. I've done my own finish and annodising. https://www.instagram.com/p/BpdNtLEBYRO/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1xda2kzbqgj4m

High quality small EDC knife with agressive look
Loved this knife since the second I got my hands on it. Ordered the second knife (just in case something happens with first) almost the next day. With after market deep carry clip from MXG Gear - exactly what I dreamed about! Super happy with knife, not so lucky with delivery: my second Falcon knife was lost by FedEx, looking to resolve the case with Drop and re-order Falcon Wing version of the knife. I have also ordered Gent on Sep 24 - no signs of my package yet. I have also bought Ferrum Forge Dao - love the knife, good option for the day I need longer utilitarian blade.

Quality Machining
The blade centering is spot-on. No stripped heads or cross threading. Slides into pockets easily. The action is smooth, the detent isn't too weak or too strong. Seems plenty sharp to me (not well versed in sharpening or cutting edges). I really like the jimping on the spine and flipper.
