Introducing the Massdrop x Ferrum Forge Falcon
We’re excited to officially introduce our first-ever folding knife, the Massdrop x Ferrum Forge Falcon! Made in collaboration with Ferrum Forge and WE Knife, it’s built with premium materials—without the premium price tag.
Equipped with a nearly-3-inch blade made from S35VN stainless steel, this pocket-friendly folder is great for daily tasks, like cutting food, opening boxes, or just cleaning under your nails. The handle is rock solid. Made with a titanium frame lock, the Falcon won’t disengage when you put it to work. What’s more, it carries on the right or left side, thanks to the ambidextrous tip-up clip.

Initial Design Concepts
The whole point of carrying a blade is being able to use it, which is why we’re creating a folder you won’t have to worry about getting a little dirty. That said, we know we can’t throw together a tough hunk of metal without a putting little artistic thought behind it.
We just received the initial design from Ferrum Forge, and we think it has a great balance of form and function. Called the Falcon, the design is clean, agile, and effective. It features a titanium handle with ergonomic cutouts for a comfy grip, and a stout 2.9-inch blade with a choil for sharpening.
We love the design so far, but the choil isn’t quite big enough. In order to confidently choke up on the Falcon, we want to open up the choil a bit more to make room for an index finger. We’re also going to get holes drilled on both sides of the handle to ensure the clip supports both righties and lefties.

Partnerships Built on a Solid Foundation
They say two heads are better than one, so how about three? To bring our titanium frame lock to life, we’re partnering with two proven industry leaders, both of whom we’ve worked with in the past.
The first is Ferrum Forge Knife Works, a custom knife shop operating out of San Diego, California. Founded in 2009 by brothers Chris and Elliot Williamson, the shop has a knack for making bold, ergonomic designs that regularly fetch thousands.
You may have seen the Ferrum Forge Sceptre and Master Blaster on the site. Those are the kind of custom-quality knives the pair is known for. Though it’s a small outfit, it’s a darn good one. Each piece Ferrum Forge brings to market goes through a rigorous process of development, machining, iteration, and quality control—and we couldn’t be happier to have this dynamic duo help us design our first-ever folding knife.

Our First Blade: A Custom Feel at a Production Price
From fixed blades and folders to multi-tools and slipjoints, we’ve seen interest in the blades community continue to grow over the years. Along the way, we’ve worked with tons of great companies and had the chance to handle some superb knives. The only problem is, these high-end knives tend to be too expensive for most…
That was the inspiration behind this project. The plan? To create a folding knife with the best materials on the market, in a package that won’t break the bank. We’ve done it with headphones and keyboards already, and now we’re starting the movement in another category.
Looking at the blades community holistically, a certain style of folder is the most desirable: the titanium frame lock. Frame locks are arguably the strongest of any lock, and titanium is known for its strength, lightweight build, and ability to hold a quality surface finish. Taking all of this into consideration, a titanium frame lock seems like the perfect choice.
