Deep Carry Clip- How many people would want a basic titanium deep carry clip? price will depend on how many people want one? How many people would want an upgraded Mokuti or Timascus clip? I have a knifemaker buddie who is willing to CNC some up for us.. please let me know and i will update everyone on a price once we get an idea on how many people want -Massdrop, if this is not ok, please let me know, (obviously happy to take down) my buddie also said if youd like to work with him on these hed be more than happy to do that

ViajamesI mentioned it the previous conversation but I'll reiterate my interest here. I think I'd be most interested in a basic 3D milled titanium clip but I wouldn't be opposed to an upgraded option, I like the idea of a contrasting color as long as it's not too busy.

Viajames+1 for a deep carry clip option. Probably just plain, milled Ti though, Timascus or Mokuti seems a little too fancy for this knife.

megical_bananahe has promised me a price once I give him a general idea of how Many we can expect. obviouslu will lose some people because they will forget or it will be more than they were expecting.. but we may pickup some people too.. i will not forget tho folks. ViajamesI would not want a deep carry clip on a knife this small. I'm still not understanding everybody wanting a DCC on this teeny, tiny knife. At least now I can still possibly grab the butt of the knife and pull it out. Any deeper and I'd need a lanyard. I think a lot of people are still envisioning this thing the same size as a Masterblaster or Archbishop (the latter with a notoriously anemic clip). I'm happy that they took a cue from WE and used a machined clip.
Now, something along the same lines in MokuTi or Timascus to dress it up on the other hand...

ZilventThere's also the option of sending it off to fanatic edge for an epic anodizing job, they'll even change the finish of the blade. That would make it truly one of a kind. Birdshot IV on youtube sent them a VDK War Admiral (also made by WE), and said they did a black acid wash on the blade, anodized the scales and did a cerakote on the hardware for $100. ZilventI'm not sure any of the customizers I'm familiar with will do a hardening process ano, that's kind of done during manufacture, and might be restrictive in the US. Anyway, ask him about that - he's sort of the go-to guy in the blade community right now, and has got to be getting more expensive soon. $100 for all that work and a 1 week turn is crazy good. Oh, and he just put up a web site, so more info will probably be turning up there.
Check Birdshot IV and Doctor Frunkey on Youtube - Frunkey is the one that owns that aqua colored ZT 0392 Bowie you see. Just do a search for ZT 0392. Fanatic Edge is doing a lot of these "deadpool" looking things lately (clients, not him), which don't do as much for me, you need to look way back for more colorful offerings. The Frunkey knife was awesome. 2 more sources, JD Cutlery http://www.jdcutlery.com/ does nice work, Jeff is a great guy and very communicative. Also another person doing really interesting patterned anodizing is Bladeswelove. He does lots of ano, hardware and also has some pretty rare knives at reasonable prices. Clutch_CargoI tend to agree, but I do use lanyards/beads on smaller knives (if I use them at all) i think alot of people saw that one pic on the drop where the guy has it sticking way out of pocket not realizing he doesn't have pushed down.. on the other hand a lot of people work in environments where other people are close proximity and let's face it knives especially big knives make some people nervous. So I think a lot of people feel that they want a deep cary for concealment reasons and prob only take out to cut mail anyway so prying out of pocket once twice a day isn't a big deal... different strokes for different folks

ZilventI'm in the process of talking to Massdrop to find out HOW best to go about this.. if they want to be involved or if we should have everyone email him/me directly, we just wanted to get a general idea of interest.. hes pretty good, but I'll be honest and say im unsure about what he can/can't do.. I do know just by talking with him about this clip project it's SIGNIFCANTLY more expensive to make a 1 off than to buy one 30 other people will buy as well

ViajamesI've actually found the lanyard on my ZT 0450 (that came with it as it has been customized) is about the only thing that lets me flick it. I use it as part of the handle - being a southpaw doesn't help as we tend to press on the lockbar. I use the clip if well designed to place my thumb on. Other than that, I'm not a lanyard person at all. As you say it's subjective, and sometimes just a fashion statement if not for function. I do have a couple of other smaller knives I'd like one on - but it's going to have to be the perfect lanyard!

Clutch_CargoEXACTLY!! I hate deep carry clips. I never understood why people want a clip that makes it harder to grab onto the knife when deploying. Even on a larger knife, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Rjdowell77To me a knife isnt a weapon, so getting access to it .5 seconds faster doesnt matter to me. Id rather have a deep carry clip on a small knife as they tend to snag on stuff and since theyre smaller they tend to come out of the pocket more easily. Just this winter i nearly lost my zt0450 because the regular clip on it got caught on the inside of my jacket.
