Sorry if I'm out of line but if I took the G-10 scales off my Gent I wonder what it would look like ? Would the frame lock still work right for me ? Is there an over travel stop ? How come Titanium scales are not an option ?

What do you guys think about something like this for the Drop logo? Or the "D" in "Drop" could be half icon/text. I wouldn't mind something like this on my Blade. It's small, unobtrusive... What do you guys think? Because just the word massdrop is beginning to get lame. and for them, it's less manufacturing just doing this one image. And also easier because you don't have to keep a row of text in line.

They're using the new stylized "D" for the new blades, I don't think anything's being changed on the older models. The Persian one has it in the hardware, looks pretty good.

This is still an excellent deal at $100. Psychologically, if you were following this offering at $80, didn't buy, and then saw the price jump, it's hard to feel good about buying it. Objectively though, at $100 this is still a great deal. I can't think of anything else with the same quality materials (S35vn blade with titanium frame) at this price. My question is for the next round of production will the blade have the same branding or something different given the change from massdrop to drop.

What do you think about this? Or the D, in Drop could be this image. I feel you man. they actually have a chance right now to do some really cool artwork or something sweet and simple on the blade that can add a bit of character. What do you think?

Well a 25% increase huh? I ate the price increase on the Keen when I decided I needed a grooved one in addition to the plain one, but a 25% increase? I live in norway and everything i order from abroad gets an Value Added tax on it for another 25%, so your increase of $20 is actually an $25 increase to me or 31.25% on the total. So it seems by comparison the spyderco chaparral frn is a better deal now, I think they go for $89

I'm not trying to justify the price increase as like many of the people here I don't like paying more for something that originally began at a very aggressive low price, but lets be honest... it's still a good deal. I love mine (green G10) and for the materials its still very competitively priced. Take a look at other LARGER production companies and not only do they have MAP standards, they routinely increase prices every other year or so. I remember when Delicas could be bought new in the mid-$50s range and now they retailer (read: NOT Amazon) for a hair under $80. People are still supporting Spyderco, yet on here, for $20 more, you have G10 in several colors with full liners, deep carry clip and S35vn steel and everyone loses their minds because they didn't get it at the intro price. Just try and pick one up like I did in the secondary market and move on. Like others have mentioned, the Design is great, it makes a fantastic office EDC knife, and the blade slices like it is working overtime. For the price you are still getting great quality and design from the likes of WE Knife Co. and Ferrum Forge.

Glad I picked up 3 at the $80 price point. I knew this one was gonna be a stellar classic design. At $100, it's still probably worth it compared to other S35VN knives out there, but not to me. Got in (gent, thresher, keen, Kizers) while the gettin was good. Now, massdrop, I'm out!

Nope. Bought two at $80. Wouldn't buy at $100. At three figures everything changes. For one, the stupid philips head pivot screw shows cutting corners. Something that shouldn't happen on a $100+ knife.

I love my gent and couldn't be happier, fortunately I got in before the price jump but if a person wasn't aware of previous price I believe the product is still worth getting. I've gotten knives with lesser quality materials for more money although I must ad the exceptionally low price to product is in my opinion massdrop draw.I was going to grab the buc next and that one jumped 25 dollar, that's 20% higher than before.

Your price jump isn’t just merely aggressive and presumptuous. It’s absolutely stunning. Your nerve defies description and anybody who buys this knife at your new price is an absolute fool. If you’re trying to drive existing customers away, I salute your efforts because you’re being exceedingly effective in that effort.

Jonas- you say you are having trouble keeping up with the demand. Is that the reason that you have increased the price? Perhaps a price increase will slow down the demand? I like my Rosewood that I paid $100 for.

To Jimp or Not to Jump? Nice little pocket knife. I bought two. One with Rosewood scales and gray blade. The next: black G10 with brighter steel. $100 then $80. Agree with one person here that said the blade is probably a touch bigger than need be, but it IS "purdy". I would suggest the handle should be just a tiny bit longer. The G10 version is definitely easier to hold on to than Rosewood, but the very tidy length, combined with the large blade make it more difficult to grip firmly than it should -- if it were properly balanced. Someone here said they were glad the flipper stud has no jimping because it does not need it. I respectfully disagree. I have had difficulty firing both of mine because of the flipper being so attractively small and smooth. I decided to do something about that. With Dremel tool cutting-wheel and a very slight touch I added one groove of jimping to one of my knives -- it makes all the difference in the world as far as firing easier without nearly dropping it.

Hey everyone, As a few members have mentioned, there was a price adjustment on the Gent (from $80 to $100). Our founder and CEO, Steve El-Hage, recently posted about the subject of pricing updates in this Talk Hub post: "I wanted to let you know that we will be increasing the price on a limited amount of Massdrop Made audio and blades products. These increases will generally range from $10-$20 and will go into effect over the next few weeks. We may also revisit prices on a limited amount of additional products in the coming months.

Why the increase? A couple of reasons. When we started, we underpriced some items with the immediate goal of getting them into your hands and out into the community. We knew the price didn’t accurately reflect their market value, but wanted to reward our early adopters for taking a chance with us. Additionally, over the years, costs have gone up around things like manufacturing, shipping, etc." We think the design, materials, and build quality of the Gent that have earned it 4.8 stars from members who have reviewed it still represents a great value at this price, and we hope that you will agree. We do hear and appreciate your feedback, and of course we understand that you look to Massdrop for the best products at the best prices. Thanks as always for your feedback, we do appreciate knowing how you feel about this and all the changes we make as Massdrop continues to grow. CC: @Laxnerd213 @meow

I understand what you mean when you say you want to reward the people that buy the products from the get go. But when you make a limited amount and not all of us get a shot to get in on that good deal, then raise the price when you restock, it’s not very fair because some of us just don’t have the time to babysit your website like others. Ex: You roll out 500 pieces for $80, those get gobbled up, then when you replenish, those of us who requested the drop again come back and the price is now $100. If you can’t keep up with the demand, then offer a rain check so that those of who were the unfortunate ones and didn’t react quick enough still have an opportunity to get in on the deal. Give fair warning like “hey, the next drop will be $X more”. Look I’m not trying to be a whiny ass and say things aren’t fair. Especially in today’s day when people bitch about everything being unfair and how they are victims. But I’m simply asking if you’re going to do a drop and then run out, don’t delete the price and when I click “request drop”, have it come back at a 25% spike in price. That’s just BS.

You folks just don't seem to get that the reason people come to Massdrop is for great deals, or "steals" as you call them. There is just nothing impressive about "strong value". It seems like the only "value" of Massdrop membership is the "privilege" of buying a Massdrop knife at a ho-hum retail price.

$100 now for something that a month ago was $80.... further evidence that Massdrop has lost focus. I'd like to see a justification for a 25% price increase. Materials? Duties on a Chinese-made product? Greed? Needless to say, I'm out...

Well Spyderco and Benchmade each increase their prices every year at the beginning of the month. The ZT 0450, which has been $160 MAP pretty much since it debuted 3-4 years ago, increased to $188 this past January. So, maybe Massdrop is just trying to piss off you specifically. Or maybe that’s just how things like inflation and economics work. But the beauty of capitalism is you can buy anything else instead. But you better buy it now, because everything is going to eventually be more expensive.

Thanks for the education. My engineering degree had clearly failed me. I do agree that the forces of economics are inflation and the dynamic nature of international trade. And yes, price increases will be the result. 25%? Hmm, I stick to my original contention. I’m just glad that I got in with Massdrop and made some purchases for prices that Massdrop was (originally) all about. But as I’ve contended before, MD seems to be going the direction of eBay. Remember eBay?! We used to go there for good deals. Though I still look there when I need something unique, the good days have passed. Massdrop? Hmm, I’m falling into the same vein. Fun to look at, but how often do I buy? Been months now. I’ll keep looking (occasionally) though.

Does anyone know what screw size is the pivot screw? Mine stripped. The pivot was loose from when I first got it. I needed to tighten it a few times. I assume no locking agent was used. Ideally, I'd like totally screws so this doesn't happen again. I contacted Massdrop but they said: "Unfortunately, we are unable to sell any individual components or parts to any given drop. Shortly after the drop ends, our logistics team places the order with the vendor for the exact units the group ordered. So, we do not have any extra inventory of items or pieces to offer due to the made to order nature of items on the site." They also said that this is not a manufacturer defect. "The issue you are experiencing is not the result of a manufacturing defect, which means we are not able to provide a replacement. Our warranties do not cover accidental damage or misuse, but we encourage you to reach out to the manufacturer directly to see if they are able to assist with a replacement or repair." So, Massdrop has zero desire to actually help me. I guess I will try to contact WE Knives about replacement screws, but I know that I am not the only person that has had the same problem. I'm just hoping that one of you might know where I can get titanium screws that fit or if any of you have contacted WE Knives about the same thing. Thanks

I received a response from WE Knives. They told me I need to contact Ferrum Forge. It's a bit early to draw any conclusions, but I think the merry go round just to get a screw is well underway. The fact that Massdrop continues selling this knife and the carbon fiber and wood variants, and they have given me no confirmation that they will help me (the closest I received was a very ambiguous and vague response by JonasHeineman that did not mention that I truly will receive a screw: "...we are working to make them available in the near future.") truly receive a screw (I'm sure it will still be the outrageously soft metal that the current screws are). I severely regret buying two of these knives and will be very reluctant to be another knife through MassDrop. If I'm getting this kind of runaround for a little screw, I'm terrified how they would handle a bigger problem.

Received knife 3/20/19 and flipper plain will not open knife. The detente is an overperformer, will just plain not open via flipper unless you push so hard you have a dent for 10 minutes. I have a half dozen flippers in front of me right now and this is waaay harder. Unusably. I've manually opened and closed it 100x but no change. Once you get past the detente the action if hella smooth and it's a great knife, truly. Is there a way to adjust the detente? Maybe the screw on the liner? I've had most of my knifes apart multiple times, and done fine trigger work on firearms, anyone have any tips on fixing this detente?

I had the same problem. Took of the scale on the lock bar side and pulled the lock bar away from the blade to bend it out. Be careful doing this just a small bit at a time. Lay the scale back over the frame and try flipping. Just a couple tweaks and mine is now perfect.

I also join the list of people who have lost this knife due to the pocket clip losing tension. I emailed massdrop asking about their actual warranty (would me bending the pocket clip void warranty)and whether not they provided or would in the future, pocket clips like other companies(zt, benchmade etc). Mine got snagged the first day I received and carried the knife. Basically within the first hour. While they said they do not have replacement parts they would replace the knife and to return the old one. She said it would be shipped within 1-3 business days. Sweet, great customer service. So I think it was the fourth day after this communication I still didn't receive the confirmation email, I decided to carry it. It managed to stay in my pocket several hours, mainly because I was constantly pulling it out and flipping it, before I noticed it was gone.😢 So I am now out the gent. Had it for maybe a week or so. Really sucks. Glad I didn't splurge on the CF version. Can't say ill be buying another one unless the pocket clip changes. I could just buy an aftermarket but with that extra invested I may as well upgrade to American made. Edit: in case people ask When I got home that night I emailed them and told them the knife fell from my pocket and they should just cancel it since I had no knife to return.Maybe I shouldve just let them send it and not return a knife. Idk it felt shady to me. $80 wasn't worth the bad karma.

I've had my Gent for a day and am pleased. The knife deployed so well out of the box it is almost boringly reliable. This is not my most expensive folder, but it is my highest quality folder. I like the thin deep-carry pocket clip for shirt-pocket carry. It really does look like a pen. The G-10 scales provide adequate grip for a gentleman's folder. The absence of jimping on the flipper tab is welcome, because it isn't needed. Design-wise, the blade seems big for a gentleman's folder. I think the blade, with jimping on the rear of the spine, attached to a taller handle with more textured scales with a lanyard hole, would make an awesome, more rugged EDC knife. But, for its intended purpose my only criticism is the blade is a bit oversized.

Is anything being offered as far as clip or hardware replacement? First day of carrying and the clip caught something along the day and now lost all tension. I like the clip except for the bend at the end, makes it easy to snag things. I'm scared to take it apart and bend it myself because I can see loctite on the screws when peering between the scales and I've heard how infamous we knives screws are.
