Hey everyone, By popular community request, the RUK is now available in titanium! Thanks to everyone who picked up the brass and copper versions, and to the many members who suggested that we make a titanium version as well. The RUKs have become favorites around our office and with friends and family, even for those who don't love carrying or collecting pocket knives. I like the patina of brass copper, but these new titanium ones are superlight and perfect for a keychain. Thanks for checking out the page, let us know if you have any questions. Thanks and Carry On -- Jonas

Now that's a slick, locking design with some nice finish options.

CyphreI love it, and am glad I was able to get in on it early!
There is no way this costs even a fifth of this price to make in china. Come on. ... I could see $19 but $49? Wasn't the US made TUKK $50?

All due respect, you two are the only ones taking shots here. "The rest of us" as you put it, aren't here on this current RUK, so nobody knows what you're talking about. I don't like seeing people bashed for no apparent reason, especially with no context. So, take your own advise please, and don't interject your name calling if you don't want to provide some background. Pretty simple really

bucktenAll due respect, you are the only one who doesn't know what we're talking about; by your metrics, only you. The reason you only see 'us two' responding here is that this thread was already 4 days old by the time you decided to interject and derail the topic itself.

I got in on the 1st drop and have this in Copper. The fact that the blade does not lock in the open position is a major fail for me. When you combine that with the fact that the slide button is on the side, makes for an awkward experience when you try to use this.

While I'm sure the bundled blades are going to be crap, it is advertised as taking any standard utility blade. If that's the case I think it bridges the gap pretty well between box-cutter and folding pocket knife. I'd likely put the factory blades away unless I need a skinning knife in a pinch.

Absolutely "no offense taken" or presumed in any way! I do understand your though, as many of my comments are misconstrued as you refereced. ;-) To be clear (about legal carry issue mentioned and your comment related to not being able to carry a box-cutter); The issue with the Fastback is not that it's a razor knife, it is because the blade can be deployed with a centrifical motion (wrist-flick, gravity, etc.) after being released by the button (RWC 9.41.250). Specifically the release from closed position must only be able to be done through physical contact with the blade. This law changed to current a few years ago basically to allow "assisted" (aka spring loaded) knives, but yet still make illigal gravity knives, switch-over, etc. So now assisted knives that are deployed by physical pressure to the blade are legal to own, carry, use, and manufacture. My feeling is the State was lobbied to allow manufacturing in State (approved a taxation revenue source), to counter all the assisted knives imported from Oregon manufactures o er the past decades. Yes! we have some pretty dumb laws here in WA State, but at least there has been a trend of law revision (improvent in recent years :-) We are moving slowing forward at the current rate of room temperature molasses (our State politicians are Mole-Asses i.m.h.o.). OMG we (WA State) just (mid-terms) passed the most stupid firearms law where if someone steals a gun from your house the owner is potentially guilty of a Class C Felony for improper storage (including potential $10,000 fine), also potentially libal for the gun after it is stolen (Initiative I-1639). They even include a newly made up term "semi-automatuc-assult-rifle" which effectively makes my Marlin 60 tube feeding .22LR an assalt rifle from a legal perspective. Seriously crazy stuff going on!!

The Bug doesn't have a replaceable blade, you know. It's really not a comparable item beyond the fact that they are similarly sized and cut things. It would be like suggesting a Graham Razel knife as a putty scraper. Yeah they have some passing commonality, but if you just need a squared-end flat metal spatula, the Razel is way too expensive for the actual work the scraper is made to do. At a certain point, recognizing 'what' the tool is supposed to do will help you choose a viable tool. Tiny knives are really a completely separate tool than disposable blade cutters, even if they can both complete the same chores and are the same size.

OmniseedYou have a point. ALL knives are a compromise. The Bug can easily be resharpened the Exacto can be replaced.. your money, your choice.

FYI -Cross posted from the Brass/Copper version. I've got copper fwiw. So, just changed out the blade with an X-Acto Z-11. Thought I'd mention that it can be done without full disassembly. But does take a little finesse. Here's what I did.... Push blade out half way, and put something thin (pictured is a removable pocket clip) in behind carriage to hold in place. Back out frame screws just about the thickness of the blade....just a little. Remove the button screw. Lift the top of frame just a tad to allow a little blade wiggle room. Carefully grab the tip of blade, tip down to allow the oval clearance over oval post. Remove. Then reverse steps. Insert new blade over oval, and seat. Replace button. Tighten frame screws. Remove carriage stop. Sounds a little belabored. But the first time really took less than a minute. Spent more time looking for my Torx. Second time probably 30 seconds. There it is. For all those that sited the procedure as a no-go for purchase. 😁🤯

Sorry for the late reply. You probably already have your issue resolved, but if not.... I found some inexpensive Easy Out screw removal kits on Amazon as small as 2mm. Guessing the T6 Torx (approx 1.7mm) on the RUK may fit a 2mm remover after it's striped out. Good luck with it. I recently removed the patina on my copper RUK to allow it to start over again. I love how fast copper patinas. And how easy it is to remove and start over. I use Silver Jewelry cleaner on my copper stuff. Patina literally wipes off in under a second with the stuff.

Locked
People comparing this to Stanleys and acting like they're going to be breaking down a pallet of cardboard boxes with this thing sure is perplexing. The blade is tiny. It's a small discreet EDC for office environments and such; it's meant to hang on your keychain and look pretty until you need to open a package or box occasionally.

I have the brass one, its nothing more than a novelty that rarely gets used. There are some major design issues that make this less than ideal. For starters, the blade doesn't lock open or closed. That wouldn't be a huge issue on its own, but combine that with the fact the button/slide to deploy it is on the side of the knife and it makes for a very awkward grip when you try to use it. If you deployed from the spine of the knife this wouldn't be a problem. The second, much more glaring flaw is that you have to disassemble the whole knife to replace the blade. The entire purpose of having a knife with replaceable blades is so that you can replace them quickly and easily, otherwise you might as well just spend time sharpening a real knife. All of the other FFxMassdrop knives are decent offerings, this one just seems like a money grab. Edited to add: the lanyard bead is incredibly tiny, and only looks good on this tiny knife
