A Keychain-Ready Sidekick in Brass or Copper

The dynamic duo of Elliot and Chris Williamson, better known as Ferrum Forge, has earned a solid reputation for their large, aggressively styled custom knives—but the adept brothers have other tricks up their sleeves, too. Their latest? The RUK: a small keychain-ready utility blade for any light-duty task. Measuring 2.6 inches long and weighing just 1.2 ounces, the RUK is compact and out of the way. It features a slim body made from your choice of copper or brass, both of which will develop a natural patina over time. The spring-loaded blade is designed to retract automatically and stay put safely inside the body. To access it, just slide the stainless steel button forward as far as you need.

At checkout, choose between brass and copper. You can also add a matching lanyard bead for (+ $10).

Office-Friendly Design With a Sure Grip

Don’t have room for a folding knife in your daily carry? Need a secondary edge for smaller cutting tasks? Want an office-friendly tool that won’t raise eyebrows every time you take it out? The RUK covers all the bases. Milled with a textured case back and finger groove, it’s designed for a secure grip. The domed button slides easily on the track when you're ready to put the RUK to work, but it won't catch easily on your pocket. Among the tool’s many uses are opening packages and letters, cutting threads, crafting, and scoring paper, plastic, and cardboard. Carry one every day and you’ll find plenty more.

About Ferrum Forge

Founded in 2009, Ferrum Forge started from humble beginnings in Elliot Williamson’s garage in Southern California. Using found pieces of steel like old files and leaf springs, Elliot gradually taught himself the art of knifemaking and metallurgy. As his skills and passion grew, so too did the demand for his work. Luckily, Elliot’s brother Chris joined the team in 2012 to help expand Ferrum Forge to what it is today: a small operation dedicated to designing and producing custom knives through a rigorous process of development, machining, iteration, and quality control.

Question
Are the blades easy to replace?

Top Answer
RevHaus
Some of that depends on what you call easy. You have to disassemble the knife in order to change the blade. That is as simple or as hard as removing 3 screws, taking the housing/handle apart...Read More

What is the benefit of copper?

Shiny look, more drastic patina over time, extra dense weight (some prefer, especially on a small knife), smooth when you want to unscrew it (titanium is a little scratchy), naturally...Read More

Question
Not the choice for project work. It's tiring to hold the blade out with no lock and it wanting to retract all the time. I wanted something more useful for extended periods of time. Not a utility knife... Maybe a finishing or detail/cuticle knife.

This feedback might be better placed in the "Reviews" section. I agree with what you say, this is definitely not intended to be used for long periods of time. It's definitely designed for something...Read More
