Hey everyone,
The Ferrum Forge Falcon, released in April 2017, was our first ever knife collaboration, and remains the best-selling collab model to date. The only consistent feedback we got about how it could be improved was from members who bent or broke their pocket clips within a few weeks of receiving their knives.
It is generally accepted in the cutlery industry and knife community that pocket clips are 'wear-and-tear' items which are subject to stresses from being carried and can get caught on clothes, bags, seatbelts, door frames, etc., and in fact that's not always bad - it's almost always better to bend a clip than rip your pants, or damage whatever it catches on.
However, we heard this from enough people who submitted support requests (about 50 members) that we agreed it should be addressed and could probably be improved. So, based on this community feedback about the original design of the pocket clip on the first Ferrum Forge Falcon and Crux models that were released, we worked with Elliot Williamson on a revised design that is less prone to deformation. The revised (V2) clips have already been put into production for all FFKW designs with milled titanium clips that are manufactured after the improvement was made - this includes the Falcon, Crux, Buc, and Dao - which all have the same clip.
Much of the time, bent clips can just be removed, bent back into
place, and reinstalled. But sometimes they are too damaged to be restored, so we wanted to make replacements available to the community. And, since we've launched a number of different finishes on FFKW designs since the first gray Falcon, we're offering the clip in all three of the matching finishes as well: black, blue, bronze in addition to gray.
Thanks for letting us know this was an issue so that we could work to make these knives even better, and for your patience as we figured out the best way to make them available to members.

NOXQCSScrews are not included because we didn't want them to put them in the same bag and scratch the clip finish. If you use a good T6 Torx driver you should have no problem re-using the same screws for your new clip.

JonasHeinemanHi Jonas I was in on the first run of the falcon so if I go to buy a replacement clip will I automatically get a $10 discount or should I contact customer service? Ether way I'm quite satisfied with the handling of this situation thanks. Trevor

KavikThat's what I was wondering. The first run of the Farrum Forge Falcon was the knife that brought me to Massdrop to begin with!! 😲Ever since I've been hooked to the gills by Amazing knives and great prices.😨💸 Nope I never had a chance lol.😈😂

I bought black because that was the only option. I'd rather have something on hand in case my clip bent/broke even if it's not a color that would be my first, second or third choice. I'm not sure why they ran out considering the historical data they have on these knives and the likelihood that people would buy two. A quick survey would pretty much give them a clue.
Hopefully, for those of us who got a clip in a color not of our choosing, they will offer a discount if/when these are available again.
If you have the time, contact Massdrop and let them know. They do read these boards. I hope you do another run and let those of us, who ordered a color that wasn't in their top 3 choices, order another clip in the color of our choice at a discount. Thanks, Tom
