The fabric is reasonably comfortable, but unlike the wool Fitsoks these smell bad after one day, versus a week or so. They also seem to be quite narrow/tight, and can be fiddly to put on.
I have been searching for socks that will keep my feet comfortable in the heat. I have tried lots of different brands & materials, but still haven't found the magic sock.
I thought that these, being thin, might work. Unfortunately, the high percentage of synthetic fibers makes them warm, even in highly ventilated shoes (Merrell All Out Blaze Aero Sport, a water shoe with mesh uppers).
Maybe these socks will work for you and what you want them to do.
I love them but as some have mentioned, they run a bit small. I normally buy xl (12.5 US) but for some reason I went with xxl for these and it was spot on. The upper portion with the spectre material is perfect for me becuase I normally wear no show socks all summer and these do not cause itching above the ankles like some thick socks do when you take them off at night. Plus they have held up fairly well so far after a dozen washes.
If they drop again I would grab another coupla pairs.
These socks are the most awkward socks i've every put on my feet inside my athletic boots/shoes. Socks should not take 5 minutes to put on your foot, but these do because you gotta make sure the specific parts are aligned and stretched properly. The feeling of having very thick toe section and super thin arch section to a thick heal pad to a thin ankle is very strange and mushy feeling.
Bought these to compare them to darn toughs socks and basically compared them against the hiker, microcrew hiker and their lifestyle lines. I work 14 hrs a day wearing sneakers and with regular brand socks, my feet end up smelling like death by the end of my shift. With darn tough, my feet stay dry, not sweaty and no smell. With the fitsok spectra hiker, it’s the same as wearing regular socks. My feet became sweaty and smelled like death by the end. Spend the extra couple of dollars and buy darn tough instead. Even smartwool were able to keep my feet dry.
Initially thought these were wool not synthetic. I have moved away from synthetic due to the stench. Found that wool keeps my feet from stinking up the tent, car and neighborhood. Used these the first couple of times as a liner in my uniform boots. Figured I owned them so I better see if I like them.
Good news! Nowhere near the usual synthetic smell, and nice tight fit without squeezing my ankles like a toothpaste tube. Need to try multiple days in a row, but they kept my feet warm, dry and comfy for full-day work.
StevovonEI had the same results. I bought these to replace synthetic liners for my wool socks for use with uniform boots and long hike boots. The old liners and all the "recommended" liners made my feet stink like I had never had them stink before. These can go two days easy without being uncomfortable as a liner and there is minimal to no stink. I actually thought they were wool too, and have come to really like the support sections.
Really unimpressed with these socks. I bought the Medium on recommendation (I wear a size 8.5 Mens) and the fact that my previous pair of FitSok was a size Med. and these are tiny...kid sized socks that are unwearable. I wanted to support a company from my home state and one that supports the hiking community, but I'm disappointed and wish that I had stuck with the DarnTough socks that have served me so well over the years (one pair was replaced under warranty while hiking the AT).
