Made in collaboration with Fizan, an Italian pole maker that’s been in business since 1947, the Traveler trekking poles come with all the trail-ready features you need in a compact, travel-focused package. Weighing just 6.3 ounces per pole, they’re a lighter alternative for those who plan to travel with their poles inside their backpack or luggage. The four collapsible sections can be adjusted from 20.1 inches to 49.2 inches and completely disassembled down to 16.9 inches. This new version has the same 7001 aluminum construction and super-strong locking system of Fizan’s original Traveler pole, plus a few updates to keep you comfortable out on the trail.
The new EVA foam grip has an ergonomic design and a rounded plastic top for a comfortable under-palm feel during descents. The straps are now wider, smoother, and more pliable, which makes them more breathable and less likely to cause chafing. To ensure you’re ready for varying terrain, the poles come with a pair of durable, grippy tip covers and two sets of hiking baskets. Each pole has a replaceable carbide tip for traction on dirt trails and a metal-reinforced, highly textured rubber tip cover for rocky trails and slippery surfaces. Along with the included baskets, the poles can accommodate press-fit baskets from other brands. The larger baskets are well suited for use on sand, mud, and snowy passes.
Ideal for anyone who wants to hike with greater speed and stability, trekking poles come in handy for rocky and uneven terrain, water crossings, steep ascents and descents, and loose trails. They can be useful for those with back, knee, or ankle problems by distributing the load more evenly, and can also help minimize the chance of developing stress injuries. Plus, when you’re doing a multi-day trek, you can use the poles in your shelter or tarp setup.
Founded in 1947 by Domenico Fincati, Fizan pioneered the use of aluminum in ski poles when the rest of world was still using steel or bamboo. Since then, the company has become a leader in the market. It’s known widely in Europe for its alpine and Nordic walking poles, and among the ultralight community for its Compact series of trekking poles. Seventy years after its inception, Fizan remains family owned and operated, and all poles are still made in its factory in Veneto, Italy, using environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices.
