The headphones sound great and the build quality is fantastic. The bass is much more present than it is on my Sennheiser 660S. Really the only complaint that I have is the cable, it is a stiff janky mess. It refuses to lay flat and wants nothing more than to just curl up on itself. I will be upgrading it to a nice Periapt cable as soon as possible. I'd take a star off for it but the sound quality of the headphones themselves makes up for everything else. The comfort is great although my ears get surprisingly warm in them considering how open they are. My setup currently is MacBook Pro> Aune X1S > Little Dot MKII (With Russian 6H6P-I Power Tubes and GE JAN 5654W signal tubes) > Aune X7S balanced output. The biggest improvement I've noticed is in brass instruments, trumpets actually sound like trumpets and not a digital representation of them. I would buy them again if they got stolen tomorrow.

BrightEyes1170I know it’s a while. But which has the better bass of your Hd 660s and Elex? And how would you describe the treble between the hd 660s and Elex? Some say Elex treble is really bright and harsh like the dt 1990, others say its smooth.

The bass is much stronger and punchier to my ears on the Elex which I prefer. The treble is clearer and to me the sound of brass instruments in particular is much more true to life, I think maybe having a metal driver allows them to make a more accurate tone for trumpets etc. but that is just conjecture. I've never found the treble to be harsh or sibilant. I've heard a lot of people mention the "Sennheiser Veil" in reviews etc. and when comparing the two the 660s sound a bit like there is heavy velvet curtains separating you from the music whereas the Elex has you front row center.
