SUPER DYNAMIC. This is an amazing headphone to experience and tune
These headphones have an immaculate level of what I'd consider dry-detail. Not the analytical detail, but more like strapping two studio monitors on your ears detail. Confused? They have a neutral-bright sound with a medium soundstage and serious slam. They have an amazing ability to be tuned as well and I would suggest to go to r/Oratory1990 wiki and grab the Harman EQ for these because that made them sound absolutely phenomenal.
Out the box they're super comfortable, a bit heavy and have an amazing cable(s) and a very luxurious feel to them which is a great start. On your ears they would sound very dynamic with the bass slamming but not overpowering, the mids being present and not overwhelming, like a tuned down HD600, and the treble of an AKG (almost). That makes them very fun sounding whilst still neutral(ish). Once EQd they become a totally different beast. In comparison, I used to swap between the Elex and HD600s because of the Elex being faituging, after the EQ it just sounds natural and balanced. I definitely suggest trying out EQing and you will definitely be pleased :)
Would recommend to a friend.
Yeah, I feel the same about them. These are a game changer if you aren't afraid to use EQ. Using oratory1990's EQ as a baseline, I added to it by removing specific peaks I'm hearing with my own ears, and now they are basically HD600s with insane sub bass and imaging clarity. I still think the HD600 beats them in naturalness and tonality, but the Elex comes so incredibly close with the right EQ settings, plus it destroys the 600 in bass and imaging clarity.
Came back to you a bit late but I agree with you completely. Once tuned they don't have the exact smoothness of the HD600, but my God do they have the sub-bass and detail.
Also, regarding the peaks, there was one very annoying peak that Oratory recently fixed (past 2-3 months). I suggest you try his new EQ for the HD600 and Elex since I've compared both to the previous EQ and they are significantly better (more detail on the HD600 (only a tiny bit of course), and less harshness and more natural mids on the Elex)
