Is there any chance on getting a CLEARXX or cheaper UtopiaXX? I suppose the Clear is too close to this model, but an inexpensive Utopia would have people throwing money at their monitor.

WILLxLOVEU can’t really make utopias cheaper because of the beryllium drivers which cost more per ounce then gold. The elex already sounds very close to the clear, cheap versions of these are sadly just a dream.

WILLxLOVEThe Elex is pretty much a baby-Clear, toned down in a few areas (headband and pads not as premium, distortion a wee bit worse, etc). Really, for more than double the price, the Clear isn't a big upgrade over the Elex despite it being technically better.

jaydunndidditYea. I have the Elear and it’s probably my favorite headset. I have the 4XX on the way and am also trying to get more into planars. Audeze is probably #1 on my list with quite a few close seconds.

DenonFanboy Whenever I read about the Utopia I glossed right over the fact that they use beryllium. I’ll have to do some research to see if any other headphones use that as well as seeing why that substance yields better acoustic results. Your name tag, Denon fan boy, is that because you use Dennon DJ equipment?

WILLxLOVEOnly focal uses beryllium right now for headphones, typically u see beryllium on ultra high end speakers and towers (15000$ +++) I think the utopia headphones might be the cheapest using these materials but I could be wrong.

WILLxLOVEThe way I understand it, Beryllium is hard to make. As I recall it's a combination of ultra high temperatures and vacuum. Focal has the facilities to make them because they also have Beryllium in their speakers, but not many headphone manufacturers do.
