With Elear now selling for the same price and the brand new Elegia for $200 more; this drop lost a lot of the allure it once had, though I'm sure sonic nearly identical the closed-backness of the Elegia is just too important to me as I listen to my music in less-than-optimal environments for open backs.

rdodevDo be mistaken my friend, these are not just elears. These are 700 dollar clears (look at the graphs). I think this drop still has allure because of the discount If you really want closed back headphones then yeah the Elegia is great but by no means does that headphone take away from the allure of The elex

Senpai-samaThey use a different voice coil, their magnets are different and the membrane is tuned differently. so ... Elex is Elex, Clears are Clears ;)..
now clears are sold at USD1000 ... its your choice to decide if you buy clears for a slightly margin on sound improvement for USD300 more. ( 25 % more )

CollectiveMindI wasn’t implying that they are exactly the same. There are some differences as you pointed out, however, as you also pointed out the differences only make a slight improvement on sound quality. And in my opinion, the minute sonic difference does not justify paying 300 dollars more for the clears which is why I say that the Elex are basically 700 dollar clears.

CollectiveMindWoah!! A second pair! May I ask what for? Lol. You don’t have to take my opinion but I would say maybe go for something else? If you already have the Elex then why not try some Mr. speakers Aeon open? Or something around the price range? You may as well venture out and try some new sound you know?

Senpai-samajajaja As to the first question, i bought the second one to paír the rig in my office. i do indeed have a Small collection of cans, Akg 712, 7xx, sens hd 600, 2x 650, several iems, shure 535sl, etymotic 4p, airfly 1120. But after some time researching i do only see focal clears and utopía as field for improvement, ( i am wondering however about the eikons), there are some very very expensive cans outhere Worth trying but not in my cost/benefit equation... stax... for example. i am more Willing to try New amplificación like woo wa8 eclipse or ifi Ican pro, for the moment i have take a risk with the thx AAA drop to be delibered on february 2019. in The mean while i have yet to buy a Dac for it ( perhaps audio gd ).. choicess choicesss..... decisions decisions..

arachnidsGripasked and answered. he clearly doesn’t want to transport his $700 cans back and forth from work and risk damage. who wants to toss $700 cans into a gym bag daily. he likely has a second amp at work as well.

Sorry ArachnidsGrip, but Cdn_Adrian is spot on right, further explanation to satisfy your Curiosity Next: I do have 3 rigs , and on all of them altmost the same configuración, if you wonder ( ifi Micro IDSD BL. + an Amp ( 1 wyred4sound, 1 marantz 2325, 1 oppo ha2se ) cans: 1 HD 600, 1 hd 650, 1 Elex. And in my backpack is always a audiofly 1120 , so, in the move i do have a great headphone 0 leak IEM , and when i do arrive at work I just switch on all and im ready to rumble. Regarding about ; why dont you transport the Elex?, Cdn_Adrian is right again, if you happens to have 4 Kids, and each kid per week have at léase two extra curricular activities you Would be transporting the Elex to, rugby, football, Piano, horseriding, karate, and so on ... quite impractical too, because you cant use the Elex while you wait in between your kids activities ( since those cans are open..), so i do carry the oppo ha2se with the audiofly and enjoy music when i am not at work, without been worried to disturb anyone, and quite discreetely too, that includes gym and other sport activities . your further question could be , What do you do with the audio equípemt that you upgrade,,, Dacs, amps, cans ? ..... i do give those to my kids, fomenting them to apréciate music .
