I'm having issues with this headphone. I returned the first pair for a replacement because they were making a mechanical noise while playing bass notes at only a moderate volume level. The second pair are doing the same thing, only at a very slightly higher volume level, both sides! This makes me think the issue is maybe the design, or some poor quality control (or me? Nah, can't be!). I have not had problems with my other headphones or earphones, of which I have many, and I don't think it's a problem with my gear - I am powering these with a Schiit Lyr 2 (low gain setting).
I can reproduce the problem easily if I play the song "Unraveled" by Lorn. At about the 15-23 second mark, the song has some low bass resonance, and these cans make a sound like metal is hitting metal. I saw only one other person complain about this 'clicking'. Is anyone else having similar problems? I will probably try one more time to get a replacement, because I don't really want to get a refund.
EDIT: I must have missed the previous post by nTrophy. Apparently, the 'issue' is the headphones working as intended. I've got a decision to make, if listening to these cans as low volume levels so as to not reproduce the clicking sounds is acceptable. I'll have to listen to them some more and play with the volume levels and see if I'm happy with them. I may be too much of a casual, I don't listen to live jazz recordings, trying to visualize each instrument stroke with my ears while smoking a cigar. Sometimes I want to crank up my emu teaks (which don't 'click') to some heavy edm, or watch a movie with explosions. Ugh, I am not pleased.
steedamikeWe seem to listen to a similar kind of music. And we're having similar problems.
Ironic as it is, these cans are AMAZING for the kind of music we listen to (hell, I'm listening to "Lorn - Unraveled" as I type this) but they can't handle it
