RyanHBoth the Sine and PM3 are excellent choices. I auditioned both and kept the PM3s.

RyanHI see you have Sine as an option, I never heard PM3 so I can't comment on that. However I owned both Sine and TH-X00, so if you are interested in their comparison, here's my subjective experience with both:
TH-X00: More comfortable, less portable, fun and energetic sound, excellent bass, a bit brighter than Sine Sine: Less comfortable, very portable, balanced sound, better technically than TH-X00, nice punchy bass but has less sub-bass presence than TH-X00, excellent mids
Both are excellent and serve a different purpose, but if you are looking purely for sound, I think Sine is a little bit better + you are getting portability. Go for TH-X00 if you want fun sound and better comfort. Of course, this is for original Mahogany. Ebony is said to be a bit more refined. Good luck! Either way you choose, an audio bliss is waiting for you. :)

RyanHJamesX isn't an expert about your needs and options. I'd suggest you audition the PM3 via the head-fi PM3 loaner program which JamesX seems unfamiliar with. You only agree to take good care of your loaner PM3 for your time with them and only pay postage to send them to next on the list. You can also purchase Sine from any Apple Store and get a 14 day return window. Is there really that much difference in sound quality between Planar (Sine or PM3) and th-x00 because James says so and thx00 are wood cups ? Is no detachable cables (incl. inline iOS or Android control), no hard case, no accessory zip pouch, no 2 year warranty, no ability to try fit/comfort and waiting many months okay for you?
Or, if you want wood cups, check out

Returnable, two sets of detachable cables, hard case, 1/4" adapter, accessory zip pouch.
What is important to you - is what's important. Give the PM3s and Sine a try without risk.

Newyorker4lifeI never said either was better. I just said you haven't heard the TH-X00 so you really don't know what you're talking about you're just blindly suggesting other headphones.

Newyorker4lifethanks for the reply. I have tried the sine and pm 3 today at a local store. tbh, i was not very impressed by them. I have akg 702, and besides the soundstage, the overall experience (sound quality mostly) is not as good as i expect them to be. maybe i am spoiled by the 702. i have listened to them with fiio x5. by comparison, sine is very balanced and neutral, the oppo pm3 is bassier and louder if you will. Sine is on ear which i dont l like. i am buying a closed back pair to use on the go ( i know thx00 is not very portable but that is ok), and with closed back i lose some quality of the open back, that is ok, but i expect them to be a little better what I have heard today at 400 dollars. i guess maybe i will stick with fostex
