Amazing bass. Mids are better than I expected. Bass doesnt interfere with mids and it's not too recessed but it's definitely V-Shaped sound. Compared to my Denon d2000: Sub bass is about the same but Ebony has nice mid bass kick. High's are less sibilant on Ebony. The only thing D2000 does better is the slightly bigger sound stage. Even my Gadget-hating wife loved the looks. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

NotwistThanks so much for this post! Now I know that I don't have to buy them.
They look incredible but if they are V-Shaped then they are not for me. I really like mids!

NotwistDo you have any other headphones in your collection? How do the THX00 Ebony's stack up against some others? Could these be a person's primary headphone in terms of overall performance and quality?

poe05Glad to help! Mids are not too bad, but if mids are too important to you there are better headphones to accommodate your needs. If you want a bassy but decent sounding headphone this it tho.

FairxchangeHEX is my main can and Ebony is my movie, EDM, hip hop can. When I need my bass fix I reach out to Ebony. HEX takes care of everything else. HEX has good bass but sometimes you need unholy amount of bass ;) I'll end up selling the rest since I am happy with this duo.
Against..

Fidelio X2: Ebony has smaller sounds stage, less sibilant, more V shaped. It has more and better controlled bass. Clarity is better on Ebony. Hifiman Edition X: Hifiman beats Ebony in everything except bass quantity. Ebony has more sparkle in highs tho. Denon 2000: Ebony has more mid bass kick, better mids, better sound overall but to be fair my denons are probably around 5 years old so take this with a grain of salt. HE-400i: Ebony has better soundstage (I know some people wont agree with this but that's what i hear) Ebony has more bass. Clarity is better on HE-400i and it's relatively more neutral and I like HE-400i tonality a bit better. But soundstage and instrument seperation is better on Ebony. K7XX: Ebony sound stage is smaller, Ebony has more bass. Ebony is more lively sounding. When I did A/B K7XX sounded dull compared to Ebony.

NotwistThank you very much for these comparisons! I feel as though the Ebony will do nicely as my primary can judging by your comments.

poe05 To my ear the mids initially sounded more recessed than a dt770. I have a feeling they are coming up a bit now though.
These have a lot more bass, and cleaner treble. they both overpower the mids (which keep the detail, just quieter) in most situations, though not in an entirely unpleasant way.
edit: I think its the soundstage, the mids get overpowered as they sound a lot further away than the rest.
