I am pretty new to this depth of audio interfaces, but I have a problem and I think this is the fix if I'm understanding right. so my problem is at my church, our new computer Mac Pro 13" when connected to our sound board (Allen and Heath QU16) with a straight 3.5mm to 1/4 jack, it distorts higher sounds such as piano keys at the 3rd C and around that area and higher up. The same problem happens on my personal Mac Pro which is a year older, but on my iPhone 6 and 11 the same song will play perfectly. I have tried volume adjusting at the source of the music on the software, I've tried the volume output on the Mac itself, and lower volumes on our mixer. (for reference the mixer has EQ and this doesn't fix the problem, and the gain is normal I have tried moving it as well, and I am a pretty decent mixer with anything else on the board). Any help is appreciated!

Jmac4298I wonder if it's a ground loop issue. Personally I don't have much experience with them, but if it is I'm sure there'll be capable people to help you out here

Jmac4298Do your MacBooks have USB-C out? I don't know the science behind it, or if it was fluke, but my MacBook didn't sound as good as my iPad or iPhone even using the SDAC. I've heard of other people having trouble getting DACs and USB-C to play nice, but I don't know the cause to it.

zdhutsonYes they both have USB-C out, and we use a multimedia adapter with usb 3.0 on them, I’m not sure why the sound isn’t as good but I have used a Presonus Audiobox USB, and when using headphones output it fixed the issue, so that’s why I thought this would work

zdhutsonDid you use macbooks 3.5mm output or plug it in to the Dac? And the iPhone? A MacBooks dac supposed to be pretty good so you can feed it direct to amp. The new iPhone don’t have a 3.5mm so the Dac is good there
