If you have suggestions for improvement, please share.
dvorcolI'm not QUITE sure if I am following everyone or not. If a person purchases the keyboard, which version will they get? Will they get the version with "SCRABBLE" on it, or the version with the "ENTER" key? That is the only difference that I am seeing between the two images above, unless I'm not looking close enough.
I would like to get at least 2 keyboards. One I would like to gift to a friend, but I don't want to spend an arm and leg on the gift. I would like to have the word "SCRABBLE" in the one that I gift, and would really like to have it in the one that I keep...
To end up with the keyboard that is the one on the TOP, what all needs to be purchased separately, from the keyboard itself?
Thank you,
Brenda
brenda52411The Modifiers kit has the regular ENTER cap. The Scrabble key is only in the Novelties kit, which you wold need in addition to the Alpha kit and the Modifiers kit to do a regular TKL keyboard.
My KLE image has just the basic ENTER key because I’m not knowledgeable enough to add “Scrabble” in its correct font in that web app.
dvorcolI hate to admit it, but you are flying about 1,000 miles over my head. What does TKL stand for, and what does KLE stand for? Sorry I have to bother you to ask...
brenda52411TKL = Ten KeyLess, as in no numeric keypad.
KLE = Keyboard Layout Editor, which is a free online application you can use to make layouts for any keyboard you can think of - standard, alternative, or anything you can imagine. http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/
Also, Massdrop is running two drops concurrently: this one is selling a variety of key cap kits so people can order the kits they need to cover the keyboard(s) they already have. The other drop (I shared the link above) is a TKL keyboard that comes outfitted with Scrabble keycaps.
brenda52411If you are curious about the different key cap sets, there is a list near the start of this drop’s description page (I call this the spreadsheet). It shows the name, current order quantity, and current price of each kit. Scrolling down further, there is a picture of all the keycaps included in that kit. There is a picture for each kit, and the pictures are in the same order as they are listed in the spreadsheet.
dvorcolAHHH... I have a tiny little light bulb just starting to turn on, over my head. So the $159 keyboard INCLUDES *ALL* the (fancy) keycaps, including the one that says SCRABBLE, etc? So there is NOTHING else to purchase, if I buy that set up? Or might there still be something that I still need to purchase, if I purchase the $159 version? I see the one keycap layout that shows the "SCRABBLE" keycap, and one layout that does NOT have the "Scrabble" keycap. To me, it's the "SCRABBLE" keycap that makes the whole thing, if you know what I mean, so I want to make SURE that I am getting that key, for sure.
THANKS,
Brenda
dvorcolGot it. THANK YOU.
By any chance, are there any "special" keys that can be ordered, that are NOT on that keyboard pictured above?
Thank you so VERY much.
Brenda
brenda52411You could add the Score Numbers Row kit (highlighting the “! @ # ...” symbols with the corresponding numbers in small font like scores), and/or the Arrows kit if you want arrows instead of text for those four keys.
dvorcolThank you so VERY much. I will add those special symbols and the Arrows kit, as well. I don't want to miss anything. (Will you be having this drop again?)
brenda52411Usually key cap drops only run once. If it were to go again, it would probably be in a year or two. And it would likely be in a different profile.
But I don’t work for Massdrop, so I’m just speculating.
