For this review, I will heavily emphasize that this is a $10 pair of earphones. So don't expect anything stupidly amazing.
Commenting on build quality, I would say that it is probably the worse sector when looking at these IEMs. The cord is a flat, (I assume) plastic piece that I really hope I don't bend. However, the tips are actually good. The metal part you see looks premium and at touch, I assume it's just plastic, but it feels.. good. Not like a flimsy piece of plastic or something. Tips are also angled, so it's quite easy to know which one goes in which ear. The cord also has a single button on it that I use to Pause/Play music. I assume you can answer calls with this too. It is also a mic, but I don't really use it for that. The tips are light and won't bother you.
Moving onto sound.. For $10, it's actually excellent. They are very clear and have no problem to getting to high volumes. Voices are easy to hear and the bass is.. punchy at best. Nothing to vibrate your head, but it gets the job done. It's very minimal I should say. Despite everything good about this pair, it comes with its drawbacks. I am comparing this to the earlier dropped MS02 from ThinkSound ($89 pair). I am sad to report that these earphones indeed have the famed 'tin-can' playback. But really, if you don't brood on it too much, it's easy to forget. Because of the 'tinny' noise, the sharp, high noises that are present in a lot of songs sort of 'hurt' my ears. It's endurable, but I wanted to mention it. I would say that this pair is definitely not a warm-sound pair.
So overall.. Should you buy it? For ten bucks? It's a steal. Get it when you can.
Just be warned that you won't be getting the best build quality, not the best bass, and an apparent 'tinny' sound coming from these earphones. It's great for a quick replacement earphones to your main drivers. (Main EARPHONE drivers.)
But then again, having these as your main drivers is totally fine too!
ridhuankimLows aren't spectacular. If you're looking for good, deep bass presence, you won't find it here. It's kinda punchy, but flat otherwise.
For mids, the pair excel here and everything is clear-sounding with no bleeding from the other instances. Voices are a pleasure to listen to.
Highs are definitely there, but be warned - because these earphones are 'tinny'-sounding, sharp noises in stuff you listen to can become an annoyance to your ears. Hurt it even.
I can say however- that the earphones are a relatively open sound-stage! Not everything is directed to one single point in your ear and whatnot. I get the faint impression of 'surround' sound. Very faint.
JosmosFYI the metallic-looking part that faces outward is in fact aluminum, not plastic. If you put it up against your cheek, you will notice it feels cool to the touch, as aluminum would and plastic would not. Also, the product description on Massdrop says it has an "aluminum housing", and the box the Bolt came in says "metal housing".
