I would like to know what the sound signature is that Dr. Fang Bean wants to achieve with the Edition XX and where they stand in comparison to the Edition X V2, the Ananda and the HE-1000 V2. I would also like to know at what list price Hifiman wants to sell the cans outside of Massdrop. And I surely would have welcomed the headband, the lesser weight and the higher sensitivity of the Edition X also for the Edition XX

SonnenwenderThat's where I'm at with this offering, too. It looks very attractive, but, yes, what's the sound signature target compared to those other closely related HIFIMAN headphones? I was already looking at the Anandas and Edition X V2, with a leaning towards the EXV2. This headphone's higher sensitivity was one of the features I was finding notably attractive compared with the Anandas. My HE-400is are about 93 dB sensitivity and I haven't had any issues driving them well with the kit I currently have, I just have to turn up the volume control further than I do with my Massdrop Sennheiser HD-580 Jubilees or HD-6XXs, so the sensitivity isn't ultimately a deal breaker. I would also like the the headband of the EXV2 and Sundara, more for cosmetics than function, but I'd be happy to trade this feature for a proper glimpse of Ananda or EXV2 sonics at the EXX price. Still pondering... What would help me most is understanding more about the design brief sonic character target. With the Massdrop Sennheiser HD-6XX, Thinksound ON2, HIFIMAN HE-4XX, and even the more specially tuned HD-58X Jubilee, I felt I had a good sense of what these were up to from all the history, chat, measurement, and documentation. I bought all of these, except the 4XX because I already had a set of 400is. And all these headphones I bought pretty much were within the range of my expectations. All very fine products and exceptional values.
