If this was a more expensive pair I'd probably rank it a 3/5, but it was very reasonably priced. I picked these up on a whim because of how cheap they were.
Pros: -really crisp, detailed sound. Has noticeably more resolution than my gaming headset (HyperX cloud II) and in the ballpark of the Sennheiser HD 5/6xx range. I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile but have used some high end gear before (I worked for a PA manufacturer and sound studio for a bit) so take this with a grain of salt -wide soundstage (open back) -easy to drive (sounds great from an old Android phone right up to an O2) -build quality is better than I expected given HiFiMan's reputation. No issues here.
Cons: -detailed yes, but also quite bright. It's got tight punchy bass but there isn't a ton of it, and the highs can be shrill at high volumes. If you prefer the "Sennheiser veiled" sound like me, you probably won't like these as your daily drivers -I'm not a fan of the split cable. It gets in my way a lot more easily than a single stereo microjack cable, and is more difficult to find a replacement if I ever needed one.
Overall I don't regret the purchase but I don't use them on the daily. YMMV.
