Anyone here mod their phones yet? Here are some pictures of the mods I've accumulated over the internet as well as just testing things out myself since owning these. Some of the mods I did were irreversible, so if you attempt them, that's that. I'm also no audio engineer, so you can just take my opinions with a grain of salt. Also the second pic with the felt, that didn't really make it sound any different, I have removed them after testing, but the picture of course still shows. The felt covering the "bass mod" hole is there because my factory black stickers on both drivers were too worn out from the switching. I have removed the black felt on the front of the driver, between the ear pads. It's pretty much glued on, slow peeling is recommended if you do remove that felt piece. Removing the black felt made the headphones sound even more sibilant, but made the imaging a bit better. I then took 2x2-ply toilet paper, and peeled a ply off (so it's now 3 ply), and cut it in a circle where it covers the center of the driver, but not covering the 8 holes. If you find that this still sharp for your ears, you can always add more tissue ply with the expense of sounding less clear (doesn't lower the clarity that much though imho). If memory serves me right, the 8 holes on the front of the driver has 7 stickers, 1 sticker placed on each hole, the 8th hole was left open (it may have been 1 hole or 2 holes left open) when I first removed the felt a month after receiving these on the first drop. I have removed all of the stickers as you can see. This made the headphones sound a bit more airy and I believe it added a bit more mids. Now, on the back side (grill side) of the driver, I removed a bit of the baffle with an exacto knife. I saw a moderator do these to his awhile back, and decided to do it myself. Of course sound is preference , but to my ears, the vocals are much more elevated with some mid bass bump that doesn't sound as strong as removing the sticker on the back of the driver. The last thing I did so far was picking up a pair of pleather hm5 pads. I wouldn't say it increased the sub bass (this phone doesn't have much of that) or that it would add more mid bass, but it gave that mid bass quite a bit more "punch". Listening to Get Lucky by Daft Punk sounds pretty balanced, the funky guitar strumming is clear, and you can hear that nice bass line played by the bassist clearly without it being overbearing. I found the Valhalla 2 to roll off that sharp treble this thing has, but it may be because it isn't quite matched with the valhalla 2 which is why. Tried these on a Audeze Deckard, bravo audio v2 (Super sharp wouldn't recommend), Dark Voice, Fiio E07k, the 1st gen Headroom Home amp (added a lot of bass and stronger mids), and now the Valhalla 2, which seems to be my favorite. My girlfriend who listened to these when I first got them, listened to them again after my mods were done. She noticed the difference and now enjoys them as well when she gets the chance to.

meowmixmeowI've done some basic mods and I don't have the problems others describe here. Some of it just seems like simple hate to me without much validation. I listened to these side by side with the AD900X and the highs aren't as harsh as the AD900X. Also the base is more present and they are every bit as open. I'm going to rewire these with silver plated wire and try to construct wooden cups for them to see how much better they get.

jaredcrobinsonI totally agree with you. These headphones don't get the love they deserve. For 100 plus shipping and taxes, these headphones are great compared to the other offerings in this price tier. Make sure to keep us updated with your wooden cups and silver plated wires. Would love especially love to wooden cups on these like then grados.
