20 hours burn in flipped on bass boost in win 10 14391 realtek drivers now still a hint of sibilance but much better than before maybe 95+% gone bass boost really helps these headphones too bad you cant amp them too hard on lowbitrate(jaggies start cracking the mids) then they would be even better but you can take them to probably 7 without flac or dsd out of a volume range of 10 which is good enough. Yeah maybe limited time or cheap factor you have to burn these yourself guess they couldnt get the original 50 ohm driver so they had to use something else wish we could hear more about the tradeoffs of this decision.... Overall tho, these start to impress once burned in. Turn them up till the mids crack then dial it back till that goes away maybe check in on it for a few different tracks to make sure it doesnt need to be dialed back more once its loud and clean ball them up in allot of something to shut them up cause they are loud without damping and let them burn in at least 20 hours, maybe a couple days, first the mids and bass get better and the high's sibilance sheen slowly dies down over 20 hours they are still a little bit sibilant now probably gonna burn these for 50 hours plus. Bass boost really helps with the sibilance somehow overshadows it or pulls power from it. Starting to sound like the 300$ range these are supposed to sound like have allot more bass than t90s not as detailed and fast(as t90s) but definitely on the upper end. Was disappointed at Hifiman at first but these are starting to live up to the name.
They are 19 ohm and still require an amp they are fairly large drivers you arent going to get the most from these without an amp. The drivers were switched probably after a logistics or resource miscalculation(manufacturer didnt have(enough of) the intended driver or the drop ended up being larger than expected) or they were just guessing off the he-300 specs.
Hey can anyone find teardown images of he-300s? I like to find images before i go messing with my stuff but not finding anything maybe if we put more people on this we can find some...........
Found one with cupback removed on Headfonia He-300 review http://www.headfonia.com/hifiman-he-300-the-dynamic-driver/
Ok 24 hours burn in now and finally had an enjoyable session seems the internet radio source I choose had an influence on how sharp these are prysm stage is still too sharp and piercing but djmagradio was cleaner. Had a session where it litterally felt like the melodic highs were dancing on and almost massaging my brain........... not bad...............
