stinnerdno one is gonna have that answer cause the highs are so harsh on these headphones that any improved cable will only make it worse I noticed fixing and recabling other headphones often manufacturers will used specially tuned solder to control highs so people dont complain and I disagreed with it then because i could put better 5% silver "audiophile" solder on it and then eq the highs down some and the overall sound was better. I think hifiman has this same approach but it feels like they didnt test it with these drivers because no amount of eqing gets rid of this completely unless u muffle the entire range other than the bass and thats just not a solution. Feels to me like we are being lied to and they didnt get the drivers they wanted then slapped these in at the last minute and its just not even designed or tested just pushed out the door.
Yeah I think it was just a different internet radio that the highs were less piercing and that maybe they arent diminishing as much as I thought at first its sure is odd on these how one source can be passable and another the highs are just so harsh i mean even now with them off I still have ringing in my ears..........
stinnerdso, i haven't specifically gotten a pair to check, but the Sol Republic replacement cables should work. they are the same split-stereo-dual 2.5mm jack to single 3.5mm jack just like with the HE350.
iCeOL8TRAmnesia@iCeOL8TRAmnesia, my god i'm so happy someone else noticed how piercing these are. i did do some burn in and it helped a bit, but i thought there was a problem with my music til you talked about the obnoxious highs too
Leon_MagnusIn previous pages it was said by people who already got the hifimans that the sol republic cables don't work as the he-350 is wired differently inside the connector, only mono wiring in the stereo connector. The HD497 cable that is mono was said to work with he-350 iirc, but ppl should read back and check.
Armstrong01gotcha, ty! my bad for not reading back; i forgot there was a previous drop. i appreciate you letting me know tho, b/c i was seriously considering a replacement from Luna Shop. now i know better.
btbtbtmakiconspiracy???? they said they had a part issue(didnt get original part wanted) and then there was a one + month delay LOL conspiracy? wtf have you been out to lunch just like you are about politics, reality and the media as well man u are really clueless
WheresMyDropI'll look into it, I should be able to find it in my conversations.
Edit: here is the comment about the Sol Republic cables not working and the HD497 mono ones working:

The reason for 2.5mm stereo jacks on the stock cable could be because they might be easier/cheaper to get. The fact that the connectors are stereo doesn't mean they are wired so inside (even though that's a very confusing /stupid move by HiFiMAN).
