OK. These or the Audio Technica ATH M40x and why. Go.

tftdguruCan't really compare open vs closed cans. That said, I think both choices are fine depending on your needs.

tftdguru+1 on can't really compare. I would take these for build quality and sound stage over the M40X but I wouldn't use them on a commute or the music would suffer from background noise leaking in. If you're going to be listening in a quiet environment these open cans win hands down, but if these will be your daily driver that you're listening to from your phone while you're out on the go, M40X will probably make you happier.

tftdguruHE350 have beautiful sound stage. They are more on the brighter side but not to a point of murder. Overall very nice and unique tone. I love it!
I never owned the Ath m40x but I do have the 50x. And I honestly think these he 350 are better despite its comfort issues!

tftdguruI like the way the 40x sounds, they are mostly neutral with a slight boost to treble and bass. However a certain plastic part has cracked on both sides, and there is more bass in the left side.
I have other hifiman headphones, and to me the suspension strap is way more comfortable. You might want to get pads that seal a bit better for more bass though. The hifimans are also super easy to modify because of their simple design.

SeT9Thank you all. Tough call, but because my wife did not like the sound leakage from the old AKG K240's I had for a few decades (before the non-detachable [early model] cable lost a channel and the plastic reels started to crack) I think I'll opt for a closed back option. Right now I'm using mainly IEM's but want a nice, comfortable, not too expensive pair of headphones to change things up. The old Sony MDR-7502's I have in the collection just make my ears bleed.
