ZooskiI don't really know what the Beyer Dynamic DT990 Pro sound like, but I can tell you that the sound stage on these cans are insane for its price

ZooskiBut just a warning, when you first get them they'll sound a bit sharp on the high-high-end, it takes about a week or less to break-it-in and cool the highs down

ZooskiMy experience with the high-high-end was the same. At first I experienced some fatigue as a result. However, once they were broken-in, they were comfortable and marvelous to use.

ZooskiI have Beyerdynamics DT990. Can't compare to these, but mid range is definitely recessed, I like the highs and lows are ok. I listen to a lot of heavy metal and recessed mids are definitely a negative. Hopefully HE-350 will sound better.

ZooskiI love my DT990 Pro. I hate the HE-350. Midrange or something seems too stuffy for me, and I had to change the pads of the HE-350. I eventually settled on the sheepskin TX-00 replacement pads from Dekoni and they insanely cleaned up comfort and improved bass but the midrange still seems muddy to me.

ZooskiI have 990 pros as well as the he-350. I bought the 990 pro used but they seem like they haven't been tampered with. These are much more sibilant than the 990 pros. The 990 pros are actually not bad with the highs, and I believe the 990 premiums is the model with more sibilant highs. A/B testing with some Adele and Taylor Swift shows that the HE-350 has sibiliant "shh" or hiss sounds with people smashing drum cymbals really loudly, and these also have a problem with (or maybe just mine) singers that say any sort of word that include the letter S. I believer the highs on these headphones are noticeably elevated compared to the 990 pro. The 990 pro never really hurt my ears in the way these do. If I listen to these at a slightly higher than moderate volume, my ears start to sound plugged/fatigued. The bass on the 990 sounds more tight to me, while the HE-350 sounds a little wooly on some songs. The 990 pro does quite well in rock and alternative in my opinion, but I really love the HE-350 for electronic sort of music. I have had over 100 hours of use with the he-350, the lows and mid seemed to have increased, while the treble side seemed to have stayed rather the same. I have done a few mods on this page that Will has provided (I believe page 178), Removing the sticker for me seemed to muddy up the low end and mids, so I tried copying his port holes and I'd say I like it where it's at (don't recommend doing this though because you can't revert back to original.) P.S. He-350 pads got softer with use. Buy these, you will love them even with the caveats.

ZooskiI have both and simply put:
DT-990 pro: Large V-shaped sound, harder to drive, bigger sound stage, better imaging.
HE-350: Good sound stage, easily driven (compared to 990 pro), mediocre imaging and instrument separation, and more neutral sound.

delance26Thanks! I prefer the V shaped sound and a big soundstage. I have yet to find a better sounding set of cans (in my opinion) than the 990's. I have tinnitus and high frequency hearing loss in one ear so the so called shrill highs that seems to be a consensus opinion on the 990's does not bother me as I can't hear it.
