Just where in the world do you live that you get internet and can post on this site but have NEVER heard of any of those previously aforementioned companies or political shenanigans?
The desire of tech companies in particular to hide, obscure, or otherwise fail to document aspects of their hardware has long been a barrier towards a number of computational products working on the Linux Kernel. Graphics drivers in particular are a hot mess since most graphics producers are very keen to not disclose any information on their hardware.
Even a quick check through Amazon.com at audio products shows that Hifiman is hardly an exception in disclosing aspects of audio performance. Good luck figuring out what drivers Sharkk, Anker, Creative, Altec-Lansing, Logitech, Axess, or almost any others actually have in their products.
So; again; where exactly are you that you can make such a statement... apparently sincerely?

rumata13By that logic they have said what the "engine" is. It's a planar magnetic driver. The frequency response and THD graphs are the headphone equivalent of 0-60 times. The ohm rating is the horsepower number. If Chevy came out with a special collaboration Camaro and said it had a V8 but omitted what V8 they based it on but gave all of the performance numbers, no one would care. I guess I don't see why people are having such a large hangup on this driver thing.

PolygonBronsonThat makes sense, however it's a consideration if someone already owns one of HIFIMan headphones. It would matter to know the driver. Say I already own 400i - should I buy this drop? If it's the same driver - I would pass, but if's better - then I would consider...

rumata13Hmm... I see your point. However, damping materials, cup materials, wave guides, and acoustic filtering material can all make the same driver sound vastly different. Just look at the Fostex T50-RP, depending on how it's modded it can sound like a completely different headphone. Another example is Beyerdynamic's DT 770, 880, and 990. I'm pretty sure they all use the same base driver and they all sound substantially different from each other. But I guess that really doesn't help you if you already have an HE400i or S. It's a tough call and since audio is so subjective even reviews really don't help much. My attitude is "if I don't like it, I can always sell it." Headphones hold their value pretty well and since this is a special Massdrop edition you can probably almost get your money back.

rumata13I'm not sure how they will hold up over time. However, I do like that they use metal for the yolks instead of the black plastic yolk of the i/S. People have complained about the build of the HE-400 but I have had mine for years and I haven't had any problems with it.

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?

I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones. Looking for a gaming/content audio setup

Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on audio setups. I'd be planning on using it mostly for gaming. Preferably I'd like a pair of large closed back headphones since I have a big head and jaw. I'd also like to hear myself through my mic with mic monitoring. As far as budget goes, I don't really have one. But under 600$ would be nice. I can go higher if needed. The audio setup would be connected to a high performance PC. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.
