Got my set yesterday. Have been really impressed with this drop, particularly being an Australian customer I wasn't expecting these til January so this is a really great outcome. As for the headphones, I use Oppo PM-3's during the day and had AudioTechnica ATH700X's at home as my more comfortable open back cans, but was never satisfied, probably due to using planar magnetic headphones all day, I'd come home and find them sounds tinny and pretty lifeless. These were exactly what I was hoping for, and while I haven't given them a proper comparison test against the PM-3's using my HA-2 which is well suited to these types of headphones, I definitely will tonight. I'm also really impressed with the build quality, they feel better in person than they look in the pictures, and while the Oppo's still win in material quality (you really can't beat the solid milled aluminium components on them), the HE4XX's costing half what I paid for the Oppo's is a terrific outcome and a great investment for anyone who is yet to experience planar magnetic headphones.

TazorAs an owner of the PM-3 and HA-2 I would be interested in the results of your comparison

MokumManI'll do my best for you, I'm far from a reviewer... But I've compared them for a while, and while the HE4XX'S are very good with a great sound stage (wider than the PM3's due to the open back nature) they don't have the sheer volume, richness or clarity of the Oppos. I think they sound better than the price paid though. My Oppos will remain my daily drivers but these were bought as at home and gaming headphones and I think they do a sensational job since they still cost less than many 'gaming' headsets but sound 10x better. Hope this is helpful :)

MokumManHA-2 is a good portable dac/amp, it drives most of the headphone easily, provides clear neutral sound and bass boost spread wide and punchy. Surely u won't disappointed to own one

klnglim888No? I love my HA-2, probably the best thing about it is my house was build with bad quality wiring so any amps connected to the mains have audible buzzing/hissing. Because I can run the HA-2 on batteries it's not affected. Not sure what have you the impression I'm not happy with it though, I love it.

Tazortry connect different plug or not too many plug-in in one extension, sound hiss/buzz/hum mostly cause by ground loop and over current power, also check your cable as well

klnglim888Done all of that, when I moved in noticed it on everything and so far nothing has worked. My Asgard just sits there at the moment until I get some decent filtered powerboards or a UPS.
