I received these headphones earlier this month. I also own Sennheiser HD700 and AudioTechnica ATH-M50. Being a low impedance headphone I was surprised that I couldn't get much volume out of these from my LGV30 phone . The Audio Technica M50 is definitely more efficient and sounds somewhat better running straight from the phone. That said, they BOTH benefit greatly from using an additional headphone amplifier! And these 4xx headphones sing like nothing else I've EVER heard with an amplifier! I also use these with the fiio x5 iii with an amp and a subwoofer bass booster app on the android side, these things handle extra bass amazingly well. Even past the point of being able to feel the earpads vibrate, these cans perform amazingly well. The bass does not bleed beyond the bass frequencies. Mids and highs are pristine!

yeah I was surprised that I had to bump my v30 to 55-60 to drive these cans.

Bimp- add a small portable amp, like a Fiio, and you'll be blown away. It will really wake your headphones up! Not just loudness, but much more richness in tonality.

I have not tried the 800s but 800 were super picky with hardware. 700 are much much easier to drive giving you lots more options, plus I found them to be super comfy.
