They sound great.
QC is terrible. Screw came out holding the cup after 5-6 uses.
I'll return these given the chance (waiting for a response from massdrop).
Do yours have the additonal plastic bolt thing that the screws screw into, or is it a screw going directly into the drilled metal with no plastic padding?
There is a small plastic or rubber washer but that's it.
I thought that was a new revision to the drop that would fix it...
No idea. Returning these ASAP.
Ok. I heard there was an easy fix.
Shame since you said they sound great.
Can I ask how it popped out? Did you apply some pressure or flex?
Also, what's Massdrops return policy on these? Maybe you got lucky and avoided a catastrophe in time...but if the screws popping out in 2 months I wonder if you can return them. Didn't find anything on their page.
Only had them for 2 weeks. Just took them off and the screw popped - no pressure or flex.
Massdrop is sending me a label for the return. Think I will move on from Hifiman - this is some really poor qc and clearly I’m not alone.
The screw that holds the yolk "arm" to the ear cup came out slighty on mine. But after closer inspection it looked like a hex bit would fit. Sure enough it tightened up no problem. The hex bit was a "T6" size.
i had the same issue with mine (occurred about 2 months after purchase). I probably applied some pressure to it while adjusting the headband (very stiff even when making the slightest adjustments). it's an easy fix but I need to keep that allen wrench handy (and try not to make any further adjustments to the headband)
My pair saw the same issue and like Oddfellow and acebb6 had to keep tightening it every couple weeks. Locktite fixed that problem. I used blue as it can be defeated if I need to take that screw out in the future.
Heck i was just thinking locktite might work.., Great thinking.., Now the only other concern i have is all the reports of one driver not working.., heh. I wonder how quickly these will break..,
