the bass and also how it needs an amp; my laptop can't drive it well enough without one. I'm more into RnB, EDM, and pop. These I feel are good for stuff like Rock, really vocal kind of music

I got 90 for it, i'm short on cash, but i cant resist.. If you need an amp though, i recommend an objective 2, real handy for many people, and I think should handle these with flying colours. If you need me to double check i could., Whats nice is the mayflower 02 has a 10 year warranty, and you could clip it onto a belt, or Velcro it to your laptop or armband with a small cable.., Just a thought,. instead of loosing 30 bucks on the unit, loose 100 for an amp, and then your buying a great portable amp for 70bucks only., 60 if you wait till the black Friday sale, when it's on sale for 90.., An amp with an analog volume control can be useful because it help preserve the "dynamic range" of the music, by not using the virtual volume control, which has an effect of compressing the dynamic range, to get closer to a bit-perfect playback, and reference playback, ., but i respect that not everyone wants to carry around an amp, who would? But there are benefits just in that alone, besides just having more power for higher volume.. Also, I suspect your laptop is a very out-of-spec pairing for any low output impedance unit like this, so any experience with the laptop source as an amp, I'd figure would be highly coloured, as it is, and not true to the headphones response, entirely.., now how colored, depends.,, but laptops always (last i checked) had a too-high output impedance to properly drive a headphone like this.. unfortunately., So for proper response out f the laptop with any common impedance headphones; one would need an amp, not that it's necessary to meet that spec' to enjoy music however =) Just some thoughts from a fellow member.. the laptop was coloring the response, im afraid.
