These are my first set of planars, and I can honestly say I love them. Sound quality - Very great response across the range. The bass isn't overpowering, the middle is clear and concise, and the upper end is clear without getting too bright. Can listen to these for hours. I was picking out and hearing things in some of my music that I hadn't been hearing before this. Comfort - Even wearing glasses, I find these comfortable to wear for hours and hours of listening. The can be a bit heavy, but this isn't much of a burden for me. Clamping is comfortable and sufficient. Accessories - Cable is much higher gauge and quality than some of my other audiophile quality headphones. A bit short maybe, but easy enough to update since they are fairly standard 3.5mm to 2x2.5mm cabling. Other notes - These are super easy to drive. I've tested with my Fiio X3-II, my V30, and my computer. All have no problem reach appropriate volume levels. My daily listening is still through my Fiio K5 Dock w/ E17K that is connected to my computer to playback FLAC. I don't know that I could say enough nice things about these. If you want to try planars, you won't find anything of this quality anywhere near this price point. If you want great sounding sub-$200 headphones, you are going to be very limited and only a few products may come close to touching these (and honestly they are probably also being sold on Massdrop). Update (30/11/2020): So I've had these headphones for a while now and just want to re-iterate how much I love them. I am now driving them through a Topping D30/A30 stack and love the sound still. The really open up a bit when I push my A30 amp into the boosted gain. I have other headphones but always come back around to these.

l0stkn0wledgeJust a note - the earcup connectors are actually 3.5mm, not 2.5mm as stated in a couple of places across the net. I fell for this and bought a 2.5mm Periapt cable and then had to cut it and solder on a pair of 3.5mm connectors ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could there be multiple different models of these headphones? Maybe earlier drops had 2.5mm? I got mine a month ago.

pttrnI think that could be the difference. I purchased them on Dec 7, 2017 . For future buyers good to know. These are good cans.

pttrnI can confirm that mine also have 3.5mm plugs on the ear cups, bought October 2018.
markvvaalsThey should really indicate that on the drop description. I almost bought a cable good thing i read a comment on the periapt drop and verified it here in these comments.

l0stkn0wledgedate purchased was dec 2, 2017... they came with 2.5mm ear cup connectors. my partner bought hers almost a year later, nov 2018... which she can’t use my upgraded balanced cable as the more recent cans now have 3.5mm connections. weird/poor performance not indicating this change anywhere (well anywhere that’s obvious in case I missed it hehe)

l0stkn0wledgeI had read on some other post that for a while you may have gotten a pair with 2.5mm or 3.5mm. I purchased mine 1-19-2019 and got the newer 3.5mm jacks (s# 12,565)

Have not gotten them yet. They are stuck in Niederaula at the moment, apparently DHL decided to let a small 5400 soul village handle all international tasks for letters to small parcels. And that is not going well, lots of negative comments about that place. Unreachable by phone or Mail and they take weeks to months at times for handling stuff. They also are said to have a habit of claiming to have delivered but no being available when they tried to do so, so they returned the object back to the country of origin, other stories go of people waiting for their stuff to later recieve note from the store that the shipping was returned to them without the buyer even getting notified of this by DHL. Apparently they handle 85000 deliveries per day. I hope I get them, but after hearing about the place they are currently stuck in I do fear for them. Maybe massdrop should do international stuff over eBay and take part in the international shipping program that way local taxes could also be handled directly with the purchase.

OCBobYeah, mine are in the 3000s. So important for folks to know they might get 3.5mm. The Massdrop photo still appears to be the smaller plug, but it is hard to tell without a more accurate point of reference and don't mention anything in the specs about sizes now.

WhiskeyJacksHonestly, I almost exclusively use my V30 now. There are a few unique situations where I carry both, usually only if I want to do something else on my phone while listening to music to make the control easier without switching between apps.

WineKeyI have the V20 from 3 years nearly and tried with many different headphones. The ones I like the most with it are the Sennheiser 58X Jubilee (150ohm) and the Sony Z7s (80ohm). Both will make the Quad Dac/AMP start in high impedance mode giving more juice and opening the sound much much more. On lower then 50ohm headphones I use a cheap volume controller to trick it into high impedance mode. I absolutely love the Sennheiser 598SE and 598Cs with my V20. The first been 50ohm so starts the dac/amp in high impedance mode, with the second I need to use the volume controller. I really recommend for all headphones to trick the phone in high impedance for best music quality. I have tried the Sennheiser HD800 (300ohm) and it sounded dull and sterile with my LG V20. Not bass and just shuting highs... All the Audiotecnica range like the ATH900X and 1000x (own both) sound fantastic once phone tricked to high impedance mode via the volume controller.

HIFI778What volume controller are you using for your V30? I have a V35 (same DAC/amp just dumb ATT version cause their dumb...) I have tried a couple cheapos and they didnt do it right. I dont feel like making my own dongle, cause I am lazy and would have to buy soldering equipment (I should anyway, but again, lazy. lol) It would be awesome if you could point me in the right direction.

BztunzWow ! Sorry about the "you're lying" comment on my last post, apparently auto correct took over and I didnt proofread my comment. I was simply trying to say that I'd gotten mine about a month (probably 2 now) and they had the 2.5 mm jacks and that maybe the were being shipped from two different production runs. Again, sorry, not trying to be a dick.
