Being a owner myself. I had nothing bad to say against RE-00. However I found 2 hidden gems both are better than this for value, SQ, build quality. First is my Denon C700 $22 value from ebay, 2nd is JVC HA-FXT90 (mins is FXT90L2 Gold ltd.edition) $18 from Aliexpress. If you don't mind digging in the suspicious vendors and old tech then they're better value for sure, especially the JVC with dual drivers. SQ of JVC really puts the RE-00 to shame. In audio newer is not always better.
Edit: my seller on Ali was "Original earphones". Bought within 11.11 event. The seller was pretty nice and resposive to my query. I received about 2w later and currently pairing them with JVC spiral dots such a heavenly match.
macabongThanks macabong! by the way, for how long have you been using your JVC earphones? Because as I can see from pictures, these are probably factory rejects, so I hope they won't break after a month of using them..
GiorgiBuild quality is sturdy, cable is much more durable than RE-00. I don't think there is any to complain about, I had a lot more expensive hp/earphones up to $300 so this value/performance ratio is stellar for me, in fact I like it more than than some $100+ value headphones ath-m50, senn HD518. I have it for about a week now my friend already stole it ;P. It started sounding bad at first which is a good sign because i knew it needed a burn-in period. After about 10~20h it shines and won't let me go to sleep if i have it on. So yeah don't freak out on any new gear.
maca-bondYeah, hd518 souds pretty dark and has bloated bass... But I'm sure that's not the deal with JVC, cause I've read its reviews and I know it has pretty good sound quality.
Thanks a lot for the info maca-bond!
Best wishes,
Giorgi
macabong Hi maca-bond!
I listened to your advice and ordered JVC HA-FXT90 Gold for 24$ on aliexpress. About month and a half later I received the pair and when I first listened to them using their own stock tips, they didn't sound anything like 180$ or even 24$, but then I realized that the tips were too large for my ears and couldn't fit in properly, so that's why it didn't sound as cool. So, I substituted stock tips with tips I had left from my old panasonic RP-HJE290 and what I heard was totally amazing! Now I can say that a month and a half waiting time was really worth it, cause these earphones sound much greater than 24$ or even 180$! It has great clarity and smooth mids, as well as a tight bass. Also, bass depth is pretty similar to that of Xiaomi Piston 2, which I enjoyed a lot at the time.
to sum it up, I'm really satisfied with this purchase, so thanks a lot for the advice!:)
Cheers,
Giorgi
macabongDude i have only one problem, the housing design is still not letting plugs stay in my ears.. can u tell me what eartips did u use for fxt90? Thanks!
GiorgiJVC sprial dot tips as well as spare spinfit tips from another set. However I think it's more about the way you insert them into your ears because it's came with various sizes of eartips and they are not much different with the more expensive ones. This is how i insert the earpiece and it fits perfectly.
