Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The unfortunate thing is that with the smaller tips, I'm having major comfort issues in my left ear. I can't wear them for more than about 15 minutes. The knurling just rubs on the inside of my ear and it's terrible. No problems with the right ear though, so I can see this not being an issue for everyone.
Other earphones I have: Xiaomi Piston 3 Granvela V1 KZ ATE Sony MDR-EX15AP Panasonic RP-HJE120
Notable headphones I own: Samson SR850 Sony MDR-7506 Sol Republic Master Tracks Sennheiser PX 95
These are okay. They're worth $30 or so. I would be embarrassed if I paid over $50.
I monitor with Yamaha HS8s with a sub at home. -Great highs, mids, and sub. Seems to be a gap between mids and sub. Maybe better room treatment would fix it.
Cars: Acura MDX - huge wall of sound with good frequency response but very narrow sound stage.
BMW 5 series - similar in response to the HS8s overall. Great sound stage, but something missing between mids and sub.
Headphones: Sennheiser HD598s -crazy open sound. missing sub response or they would be perfect. I just need to jam out sometimes and these won't do it for me.
TH-x00 from here. -close to perfect?? missing some of the magic that the senns have in the upper mids maybe.
I still haven't found the perfect sound! Oh wells. I guess there is no endgame for enthusiasts. The hunt is part of the fun (unfortunately it's frustrating too)
TLDR: These are not amazing and probably the least favorite producers of sound that I own.
