For those whining about lack of bass, try some other ear tips. Neither of the 2 sets included fit me even remotely well. Fortunately I also have a pair of RE-400 so I just used 1 of the 7 sets included with that on the RE-00 to get a good fit. Also, if you were buying these for monster bass response, I don't think you've done your homework. Hifiman IEMs are not known for bass, they're more known of neutral sound signature with good mids and highs, but lean bass (at least for the RE-400 & 600).
Quick impressions (which may change as they burn-in/I get used to them): these are not the cheaper/cut-down RE-400 I was hoping for. They are higher impedance than the RE-400 since it's quieter out of the same source (Fiio X1, Sony Z3 Compact). There is more bass but it's bloated, mids and highs are less clear vs RE-400. These actually sound closer to the Xiaomi Piston 3 from my quick testing. I also have Xiaomi Piston 2, Grado iGe, Shure SE215.
At the $31.50 USD (after refund) price point, I'm kind of meh about these due to the sound signature and lack of tips. IMHO, I think the Xiaomi Piston 2/3 at the $20-30 price point are better value for a "fun" (v-shaped) sounding IEM, if they fit you. My current favorites are still the RE-400 (lean bass and all), but those cost 2.5x more than the RE-00.

AvroArrowDo you fit the RE-00s with a deep-fitting ear tip or a more canalphone style tip? I've been messing around with comply tips as well as spiral dots. Not quite sure which matches the iems better.
