These comments are relevant to this drop, they are in relation to the RE600 in ears, these are top of the line hifiman in ears and cost around $300 when I got them. I would like to draw your attention to some serious quality control issues at hifiman, I am now on my 3rd pair of RE600s, all of which have broken within space of few months, the 2nd pair I carried around very carefully, in cases and stuff, the third pair have left my house twice and been kept only in a safe location always. One side has stopped working and the rubber on the other side has now detached from the headphone. I only started using the 3rd brand new pair very recently as I love the sound, but they are already broken after about a week or so. As I bought dunu 2000js to tide me over after the second break, they are now out of warranty as I only thought I would give them a final chance very recently, although sending them back seems abit pointless anyway. I have used the dunus, ie80s, cx980, HD518 etc and never had such a problem, all of them still work to this day, in fact I have £5.00 headphones which last longer. I know its a diff earphone, but the re600s were, when I bought them, the top of the line hifiman in ears, and this is just appalling. I even covered the 3rd pair in duct tape along the whole wire to give it more support, made no difference. I would like to state that amongst all my earphones these are my favorite regarding sound, but there is just no point in owning them. As can been seen from the other comments the issue persist throughout HiFiman's product line, and are almost as bad at the top end so they just cant make portable earphones, not sure about overears and their other stuff as I haven't tried them.

CrayonmuncherThis is old news. HIFIMAN already addressed the RE-600's with a V2 which the cable is addressed. I went through the V1 failures (3 sets) and finally got the V2 and no more issues. HIFIMAN did listen and fixed it. I doubt these are better than the RE-400 or even the RE-600 even though the reviews on HeeadFI say they are a must have?!

Hi-FierWell i am pretty sure I have had both variants, all of which broke. I assume that the v2 cable is braided where as the original is not? Cuz i vaguely remember having two braided variants and one non-braided, either way I know for sure that when they were last replaced they did have the v2 variant on sale, so if they sent v1 that says alot about their warranty service. Which is a shame as their customer service was good, just took a month to replace. Regardless the rubber on the ear piece has came away, again, and it is clear, from all the comments here, that even if they have fixed the issues on the re600, they clearly persist in abundance with lower models.
