How feasible should it be to swap out the case / top plate of this board to a darker color? I have little to no experience with mechanical keyboards and would like some input.

DiesALittleSince this board is hot-swappable, I believe swapping out the top plate would simply be a matter of finding a plate that fits, pulling out the switches, unscrewing the old plate, and screwing in the new one.
I'm basing this off of the process for my current boards, which involve unscrewing and desoldering the switches to get the top plate off. I think the hardest part would probably be finding a top plate that fits. If you find some, please share! I'm not the biggest fan of silver tops. :P

DiesALittleIt probably won't be that easy since you would have to have a new plate custom fabricated. Might be better off just getting the original plate anodized locally in whatever color you want.

DiesALittleWhy try to change the plate when you could just color it yourself with powder coating?

shadowkreepBecause it didnt even occur to me this was an option. I didnt realize the powder coat would adhere well to the surface of the case.

DiesALittlePowder coating adheres via an electrical charge through a conductive media, in this case it is aluminum. It is the perfect material to powder coat. Very cost effective and extremely durable

shadowkreepSweet. Is it a permanent color change?

DiesALittlei mean i would be lying if i said it was permanent because nothing is but it will last you for as long as you take care of it. It will not peel unless you drop it really hard

shadowkreepGreat! Thanks for the info. I just realized the keeb will be put out open source once the kits are shipped. Shouldn't be too hard to make a fully custom case in a different color if there is a desire
DiesALittleI don't know if they are coating the case, but another option is anodizing it. There is probably a local shop around you that can do it. They would know if there is anything coating it. They could probably sand/glass bead blast it if its coated to allow the dye to soak in.
