Product Description
With innovative designs that blend technical materials, a streetwear aesthetic, and a no-to-low-waste policy, the Techwear Intern is taking the fashion industry to school. A student of fashion design based in Vancouver, Canada, he gained a massive following in February of this year when he designed, patterned, and sewed an entirely new product every day for 30 days straight—and documented the whole process Read More

Hey everyone, Techwear.Intern here and I'm super freakin' excited to share with you my very first official product release - designed in Vancouver, Canada and developed with extensive collaboration with Massdrop! https://www.instagram.com/techwear.intern/

Massdrop x Intern - Series 1: Modular Pockets & Packits. The first seven products in an ecosystem of user-configurable pouches and organization. Built with a nowaste manufacturing methodology. Featuring a brand new system of compatibility that I'm calling the Modular Adaptive Carry Standard - MACS. By mixing and matching items built with MACS compatibility, you’ll have the freedom to create the perfect carrying solution for a day, a weekend, a trip; whatever your life demands (they also attach anywhere with 1in webbing connections, such as the MOLLE, PALS, and ARKIV and TECSYS systems too!).

Hope this helps someone decide what's right for them. It's like MD intentionally went anti-UX on this product listing. Why split up all of the relevant info throughout the page and then make someone do math to figure out the price?
CajualnessSorry for the confusion, I'm working on a bunch of support art assets now! I'll update the drop soon. :)

CajualnessThere’s also something odd about not listing the capacity/volume in liters. It’s a common spec with these types of bags.

My own pouches are a few revisions old, the ones here on Massdrop are leveled-up and refined. I don't even get my own kit these days haha! As soon as I make finals they get sent out to factories, or massdrop, or to friends for wear testing, etc.
Here's my kit today - packed in a bunch of early Medium Carry Packit prototypes:

(mine are made of an earlier textile, black on the inside and less durable, yet still the sharp metal tools in my toolpouch have yet to make any holes or cuts even after months of abusive use)

Hey there, just wondering if you have forgotten those picture you're planning to show?
SomoHapiensHey there, so sorry for the late reply. I'm currently in Europe, just finished a design summit in Amsterdam and have little access to wifi [i also don't own a cell phone!] I asked a friend to snap a few pictures of his phone inside the small pocket. For reference, he has an iPhone 6, which is a tad smaller than the 10, and as you can see it is a bit of a tight fit. If you are looking for quick access to your device, it may not work for you.

Below there are a few more photos of the medium pocket in relation to the iPhone 6 and some other load out items. I am still working on getting some friends to snap photos of the packits [sorry that I didn't have a chance before I left] and hopefully will get back soon with more.

Hey Intern, your designs embody exactly what I look for in gear: features (especially water resistance and durability), economy of design, modular functionality and finally, aesthetic is nice. I really can't wait to try it out, and am wondering if you plan to produce more of that your day 1 slingpack, that thing looks awesome. Like you, I don't like the look of most slingpacks, usually a backpack guy, but that is definitely something I would wear. I'll definitely be supporting you here, and can't wait to see your future productions!

How waterproof is “waterproof”? I have some pouches I wear on my waist all the time (including on hikes and beach excursions) and they often end up dunked/submerged completely. I’ve had to rig up a makeshift solution for protecting the contents but it would be great to have pouches that can protect its contents and hold up to that kind of use/abuse.
dirtherder In order to achieve "submersible watertight" one needs to weld, glue, or laminate the seams which is not the case with these pouches. X-Pac is a very new material to the marketplace and its construction is based on a laminate structure of many different types of fibers - all with different melting points and properties. At this point in time I have not yet encountered a welding or sealing method for X-pac that has performance and long term durability that I'd be confident in applying to my designs... I maintain open channels of discourse with the materials manufacturer as well as the makers of seam tapes and chemical companies, and am on a quest to devise a low-cost and long-wearing watertight solution for the future. Typically the fastest failure point when dealing with water is the zipper, and the Lenzip zippers I'm using outperform the typical industry standards in just about every aspect. The Lenzip Raindefyer zipper comes from the world of marine applications and the construction of temporary structures. They're incredibly long wearing, salt/chemical resistant, and the most water resilient coil-zipper I have found (by testing samples from nearly every zipper manufacturer on the market).
Even the Pulls themselves are high-quality aluminum castings, stronger, smoother, smaller, lighter and more attractive than those of the same spec from YKK:

The construction used here is typical cut'n'sew which will result in some minor seepage though the needle holes when fully submerged. However this effect takes time before water reaches the interior. For future endeavors, I've been working with the worlds leader in weaving webbing and cordage in order to develop an internal-edge binding (aka grosgrain) that adds waterproofing. I'm confident we will have this technology ready for market by next year, creating a whole new world of simplified traditional construction methods that achieve the performance typical of expensive welded products. I'm working very hard to deliver the best I can to you today, while using those returns to develop new and better technologies for the future. :)

Techwear.InternThanks for the awesomely thorough reply (much appreciate).
Too bad they are not fully dunkable (I get why, thanks to your great response). But I may order a few anyway.

awesome! thank you! I have found that I need to use the small loops for the hooks or it falls out. I really like it. very hand for Seattle. it's interesting how it "droops", but nicely set up for more additions. Not sure I see what's happening in your last shot by the zipper (1), but I am all set. Thanks so much for your assistance.

Huge thanks to you taking the time to do this - I'm finding it useful 7months later.
I made some art assets to beef out the Drop Page a bit, the Massdrop team is getting that done presently.
Here's a bit more clarity regarding details the pouches:

So the extralarge Packit looks perfect for my needs. I’ve been searching for a dedicated waterproof bag to keep my MSF teaching materials strapped to my motorcycle when I’m teaching. Do you think a big binder measuring 11”w x 12”h x 2.5” d. fit in the XL Packit? There are no depth dimensions. I’ve attached a photo of the binder.
