Hey everyone, We are excited to bring back the Holy Panda switches tomorrow April 18 at 10 a.m. PT. for those that missed our initial run last year. These are additional units we've purchased with the first run so there will be limits to quantities available. First, a few things to note about the upcoming batch of switches. Production is now underway and we expect it to be complete by mid May. We expect to have production samples for community members like @quakemz to evaluate by the end of April. Second, please note that we’ve increased prices for this round of Holy Pandas. The original pricing was a sign of appreciation for those who joined last year, as an early-bird special of sorts. These type of projects need the help of those early adaptors in order to become successful and we appreciate the community’s enthusiasm with these. Finally, we currently expect the December round of Holy Panda switches to start fulfilling by the end of May. We are currently trending about 10 days longer on production due to unforeseen delays.

Hey everyone, We are super excited to have this community favorite switch on Massdrop. When I first heard about the Holy Pandas from @quakemz, I was definitely intrigued. The barrier to entry was quite high back then. You had to get the original Panda switches from the group buys or hope one of the community shops had stock. Additionally, Halo switches were scarce. When the opportunity came up in March to collaborate and actually make Holy Pandas available without having to purchase additional switches or reassembled components to make them happen, we jumped at the opportunity. It took awhile to get all the pieces into place. What we are doing is highly unconventional since different parts of this small component are actually made by different manufacturers. In the end, we will be using the original Invyr Panda switch housing tooling and, of course, the original Halo stem tooling to make these switches a reality. I’ve been pretty impressed by the tactility of the switch and will be sending samples out to some community members so they can verify that these are indeed the same switches. We’ll also have some force gauge graphs made and we will update here when that’s ready. Thank you everyone for your support and we hope everyone will be pleased with their switches.
search
Some notes about the estimated fulfillment timeline. It is a long due to a few considerations - 1) Chinese New Year is around the corner and this results in almost a month long manufacturing shutdown. 2) We will be repairing the injection tool to bring back the original switch housing - this does take time we've budgeted more time so this process isn't rushed. 3) This switch is an amalgamation of parts from different manufactures which is rare for production switches. Since this is the first time we are trying anything like this, we have been more conservative in our estimates.

Hey everyone! Glad to see so much excitement, and I'm excited to finally make these happen. We've been working on this behind the scenes since March, and keeping it under wraps for so long has been nerve-wracking. Thanks to Yanbo and the team for working with me on these fantastic switches. If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer them!

Mixed up your comment and the one above wanting 70. It will be cheaper to get them now than on r/mm. YOK pandas are back in stock if you want to make your own and aren’t set on the color :) Either way, good luck in your search!

Hey everyone, I received the production samples a little ago, which would be what we consider representative of final product that will be shipped to you. Both 27 and I have given it the go ahead! I am unable to differentiate, feeling wise, between these and home made holy pandas. There is a slight difference in the colour of the bottom housing, it is a lighter, more white colour than the original pandas, however this has no effect on the feeling of the switch and is purely cosmetic.

It's not giving you peace of mind because you're thinking way too deep into it, jesus. How is it possible that 3 different people giving a green light for the product NOT giving you peace of mind? Just because they happened at separate occasions? If anything, giving them to different people for the second run of these switches tells people that they've been successfully making them through the production duration of the first run, so people who are complaining "how can you do a second before the first is even completed" can be slightly eased by the fact that more people who are well known in the community have given their own confirmation. If you're thinking in a way where it's like "oh my god, they sent out approvals again?? what could this mean??" no shit, you're not going to have peace of mind.

I haven't tried Holy Pandas (obviously since they are uncommon) and hope these are really worth it. I ordered 110 in case I ever get a nice full size, also cuz the 90 was sold out. I really hope these are worth it. I guess if anything though these retain a pretty good resell value should I for some peculiar reason don't like em.

To my people, who don't want to buy this switch at this time. I am pretty sure, you guys will have a chance to buy it in the future, I mean soon, about 1 or 2 months after this drop ends. So, don't be freak out or worry if you miss a chance to buy these switches. In my opinion, just wait till some people giving feed back about how this one works, and wait for the feedback if Massdrop can deliver this drop on time to consumer's hand. In another word, If it takes 4k1 people to buy these switches at this time, Massdrop will not be shy to open another one to get more money. So, be patient!! Dear

the open order running right now is just the leftovers from what you ordered. I am not sure why you think they wouldnt be prepping another run anyways though..no other manufacturer in the world waits for one load of shipments to be delivered before pre-planning the next manufacturing run.

So I totally get that Holy Pandas are a fantastic typing experience, but I’m not going to be buying them until the price is lower. Personally, I feel that no matter how good a switch is, if it’s a) mx-style, b) in production, and c) not supply constrained, then $1/switch is the absolute maximum I would ever consider paying, and really something like $.75 feels more reasonable for a premium switch. Incidentally, this was the group buy price for V2 Zealios. I’m hopeful that economies of scale and healthy competition will kick into gear here, and we can get some nice tactile switches for less than the price of many high-quality prebuilt entire keyboards. Just my 2 cents.

For sure, it's of course Drop's prerogative and I wouldn't be surprised if we see an all-in-one Holy YOK sooner than later. Alls I'm doing is stating my price threshold publicly in hopes that they'll consider going for higher volume / lower prices in the next production round, hopefully in line with the original costs of the components. (I will add that I'm aware that the Panda mold needed to be repaired and that this cost isn't insignificant.)

Pricing depends on the MOQ and the total production rate too. If they manufacture 1 million switches (an exaggeration) price will surly be less than 25 cents/switch. But this is a small market with a lot of custom products (blue pink yellow red gold green brown, different brands, etc), meaning, there is very little chance of one switch type dominating the market and go "mass" production. Unless you have a steady business like Cherry MX (partnered with a lot of gaming gear companies), for smaller brands the chances are price will not go down much.

Thanks for the link! I don't want it just for the RGB, but beacuse I like the look of translucent switches better. It would be great if they came with a different housing. I think that would make the switches more appealing and flexible for different types of boards (with and without RGB). Sure, probably the guys at Drop won't pay attention to a single comment to make a design change like that (even if it's just not dying the plastic, if the thread you sent me is right), but hey, one can dream, right?

A big part of the typing sounds for the Holy Pandas is because it uses both nylon and carbonate, purely transparent housings are usually only polycarbonate, and thus will sound more high pitched. If that's something you like though, I'd just get Zealios if I were you.

Not at all close, despite sharing a stem. Holy Panda are much more tactile than Halo Clears/Trues. Holy Pandas use a much lighter spring. You'll almost always bottom out on Holy Pandas. The sound profile is also drastically different. I would recommend looking up some typing videos for the sound. Holy Pandas will be much louder.

I was wondering if I get the 70 switches for 60$ will I get all the switches because 1 switch is $30? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, I’m just making sure before I order them. By the way will the switches work with the ducky one 2 mini, if not are there any other good 60% keyboards that would work? I would’ve gone for the Glorious 60% but it was sold out.

It's not $30 for one switch. It's $30 for 20 switches, which is the base option. If you would like to increase that from 20 to 70 it's an additional $60. $30 + $60 = $90.

Kind of confused about this order. If I need 90 switches total, do I get the "70 switch pack" or "90 switch pack"? Im not sure if the added switch packs includes the 20 switches from the $30 "base pack"...

You need more than just the switches to make your keyboard sound like that. Other factors that created the sound in the video were the lube, keycaps, mods (to the stabs), plate, case, dampening foam, and surface the keyboard was resting on.

You won't get this sound unless you spend at least $400-$500 minimum on a group buy tier keyboard. You can get a similar sound with retooled mx blacks, but that doesn't change the fact that you still need a heavy solid keyboard built the proper way (not in a factory) to get even remotely close. The Fjell you see in that video was a custom build and it's not an easy keyboard to acquire.
