I wish Drop would do like a sample pack or 10 pack for those who needed replacements. I don't want to drop 70 bucks on a switch I don't like. Typing tests don't sell me because everyone has a different setup that sounds different and I can't feel them.

hdsharpe1I don't think v2 get a high aftermarket value tho since they are not really holy panda their use different housing tool and materials so in most people's eye they are completely new switch

GeT_TrOlLYeah, that was my feeling. I have saw a few reviewers who received samples that were impressed, but I have seen more who reviewed them right in the middle due to the supposed lubing that wasn't supposed to be, as well as black flaky material on the housing. The housing looks like a Novel Cream housing with a Hako Salmon stem, except that they swapped out the spring for a 67g one. That is exactly what I Frankensteined together 2 months ago except I used a 62g spring.

hdsharpe1Yep they change the housing material to POM from PC which is what original panda use, and frankly now is more like holy cream instead of holy panda and they should really rename this switch or mark it as v2, these switch could be better than the og hp but for better or worse they are not hp and will never be hp.

GeT_TrOlLThe one's I frankensteined, which are the same material with a 5g lighter spring, as I said, suck sound wise because of ping. They may have been better if i had kept the spring from the cream housings. I would liken them to a wobbly zilent, or a little more upclass pro purple. That's why I worry about these. They're good for typing though, and don't hurt my fingers as much as prolonged typing on the Novel Creams or Hako Trues, and that is the only reason that I have kept them. Now 3 of the reviewers I watched did like the sound of the V2s better compared to the V1s, and one person did a side by side typing comparison, and they did sound okay. However, I didn't check to see if he was doing them on the same boards or at least with the same keycaps, so take that with a grain of salt.

GeT_TrOlLYeah, I agree with you on that. Novel Creams aren't that great. They have that really thocky sound that gets better with a thicker keycap, and that is about that. A decent amount of wobble, check. High ping until really broken in after lubing, check. Self-lubricating POM gimmick, check. Taehatypes made them a bloody fortune with TFUE's build video.

hdsharpe1I mean POM is good on paper but until u make the switch and found out that the housing and stem will create a scratchy feeling and no matter what u do the scratchness and the leathery sound will not go away. Yikes

hdsharpe1To be fair he stated in the video that he tried to talk tfue out of the cream switches.
