So I've had these for several weeks now and I feel like I've had them long enough to give a small but concise review. I'm going to confront the biggest complaints about them first; the glossy finish and the known buzzing issue people have been going through.
Starting with the glossy finish, I think we can all agree that it's a preference thing. Some people like it, some people don't but what I can say is that it is by no means the cheap, plastic gloss we see on other electronics. The pictures truly don't do them justice, they are absolutely gorgeous in person. So even if they may not be for you that doesn't mean the finish is cheap because it truly isn't. As for the buzzing, yes it happens but it can happen for different reasons but the main contributor seems to be either a ground loop, not using balanced cables, or not using some kind of audio interface. When I first received them I used the included 1/4" to 3.5mm cable and I had significant buzzing, so I invested in a EBTech Hum Eliminator which stop all buzzing that I experienced before, which was caused by some kind of ground loop. It even converted unbalanced signals to balanced so I definitely recommend that to possibly solve your issue.
Before I continue this "review" I want to stress that I am by no means an audio guru, I consider myself a novice.
Now these speakers are absolutely amazing, I was blown away when I first plugged them in, even with all the buzzing. Now with the buzzing gone, they are even more heavenly. The soundstage and imaging are mind blowing, the matched 1dB feature really shines through. You get this feeling as if the sound is enveloping you and holding you in its loving embrace haha. That also might be due to the tweeter design which is very unique looking. I have my speakers hooked up to my AudioGD NFB 11 with some custom XLR cables and I think that gives them just a little more polish. The highs are where these shine in my opinion, vocals sound so clear and refined on these. Mids are pretty nice too. The lows aren't so great, they're by no means bad but I do wish they were more profound. They are still very punchy, I just wish they were more "bam!" but that's nothing a subwoofer can't fix which I do want to get in the future. I'm gonna end this with a list of pros and cons.
Pros: - Great and smooth highs - Beautiful and sleek design - Great price for what they are - Awesome imaging and soundstage
Cons: - Weak lows
This was my first review for anything ever so I apologize if it's bad, I just wanted to contribute to the audio community on here and maybe help people on their purchase of these speakers. So if I helped great! If not I hope you took something positive from this review.
Thanks for reading!
