Update: I've previously mentioned that I ordered these cables https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K39U1NE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and said that I would post an update on how they work and how the speakers are in general. Basically, these cables are high quality and work perfectly well. I do get some noise on the monitors when I turn the volume on the back of the monitors past 6, but I I think that has more to do with the other electronics that are so close and the fact that my power in my house isn't the cleanest. (outlet wasn't even grounded at first, once i discovered that, I grounded the outlet and reduced the noise considerably).
Long story short, I keep the volume knobs on the monitors at 4 and control the volume with my NFB 11.28. I get no buzzing or humming, and both music and games sound incredible. I love that I no longer have to wear my headphones to enjoy good sound quality.
I would imagine that using a balanced source and balanced cables would reduce the noise/humming even more and allow the knob to sit closer to 10, but I doubt those of us that already have a headphone dac/amp with unbalanced pre-outs are eager to spend money on a new dac/amp just for balanced outputs. If anyone wants to suggest a way to convert RCA outs to balanced XLR, I'd be willing to look into that for sure. If that does exist and is relatively inexpensive, it might be a good idea. However, as of now, I have no issues with how they are running. Like I said, they sound great and at $179.99/pr, there's absolutely nothing out there that competes in this price range.
Sidenote: the isolation feet that come with these seem to do their job. Has anyone compared them to using foam or yoga blocks? Would something like that be better? or pretty much the same?

jes6309I have the same setup as you and the noise issue for me was the usb cable. With the speaker knob at 10, having the usb cable plugged in caused humming. Switching to optical and unplugging the usb cable completely removed the humming (using optical will use the clock of the source and not the NFB's clock though). If you want to lower the noise floor even more you can set the input sensitivity to +4dBu and turn the volume up on the NFB 11.28 (since it's also a preamp). You can definitely convert from unbalanced to balanced, you just need a converter like a DI Box (aka Direct Box). They're generally not cheap though: anywhere from $50-100. Of course, anything added to the signal chain can degrage audio quality and if your cable runs are small and you arent't experiencing ground loops, there really isn't a need for balanced cables.

StevsI might give optical a try. And yeah, I kind of figured trying to convert to balanced would not be worth it for those exact reasons. Thanks for the tips!

StevsHey I got my optical cable yesterday (went with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LJQMZC/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The humming is completely gone! Knobs at 10 and the monitors are dead silent. Thanks for the tip!

AvramSiIf you're using USB and experiencing noise, and your dac and pc both support s/pdif, then I would say yes.

AvramSiI would try them and see if noise is a problem before ordering anything extra. It depends on what you have them connected to and what cable you are using. For example, a pair of TRS to XLR cables out of a Focusrite Scarlett Solo or 2i2 audio interface are less likely to present a problem than the provided cable connected to the headphone jack on a PC.
