"Prior to becoming a production-ready design, each 3 Series model is subjected to JBL’s tough 100 hour power test, in which the speaker is required to play continually at full output for 100 hours without failure." Anyone knows what this means? Using my SDAC and sensitivity setting at +4dBu (the softer one), I hardly even crank the volume control past 5... If full output means volume at 10 with the -10dBV selection, I'm kinda worried :p

phoenixsongI plugged them directly into the 3.5mm jack on my laptop (which admittedly has a Sabre ESS DAC/amp solution built into it) and set the volume control on the speakers all the way to 10. The loudest I've ever run them is at 60% on my laptop. I could hear them down the street with my windows CLOSED. I generally have my laptop volume control set somewhere between 2 and 8%. LOL :P

spdcrzyHey I was reading the old comments today and stumbled across yours! How are your speakers holding up? Btw, I learnt that it should sound better to have your laptop sabre dac (impressive) set to max with the speaker volume adjusted accordingly. That way they'll be well-fed and happy :D

phoenixsongLOL I just saw your comment...a year later again :P The reason I set my speakers to max and changed the input volume on my computer instead is that if my speakers are maxed out, no matter what, there will never be any audible difference in their levels - and I can keep the output from my computer to a minimum as well. I've got a new 17" version of my old laptop which has the same DAC, but with a "tuned by Sound Blaster Pro-Gaming" label, but I'm not really able to hear the difference between the two, which is very good IMO. My speakers are holding up flawlessly. I'll be the first to admit that my ears and the quality of recordings I listen to often don't really do justice to what the speakers are capable of, but that's neither here nor there haha.
