Prior to getting this headphone, I had the Sennheiser 6XXX headphone and the CTH SDAC DAC Amp. I connected the Koss headphone to the CTH DAC Amp. One surprise is that the volume knob on the DAC Amp still works along with the volume knob on the energizer. As for sound, the 6XX is probably the better balanced headphone. The Koss has very good highs and a GREAT midrange with a just adequate bass. The detail is also great. It reveals the quality of the recording much more than the 6XX, but is not so harsh that the recording cannot be enjoyed. I do not think the Koss replaces the 6XX. My preference really depends on the recording. For things like vocals, the Koss is my clear preference. But to the extent the recording has a strong bass track, the 6XX is my preference. If a recording has a great range in frequencies, my preference would also be the 6XX because the 6XX has better balance thru the frequency range. But in its range, the Koss is exceptional. This review may seem to conflict with my rating, but the strengths/weaknesses of electrostatics are well known. If you want bass range, you either get another kind of speaker or perhaps one of the Uber expensive electrostatics

CCD1How do you compare the soundstage of 6xx to the 95x ? And does the 95x got the same shouty vocals in the mids ?

Mohannad13The soundstage of the Koss is much better. The downside of the Koss is that the highs and mids are outstanding, but the bass is weak which can make for a badly balanced headphone with musical material that highlights this difference

CCD1Actually i got 6xx and 4xx i prefer the 4xx . Now i am thinking either in getting the emu teak or the 95x I know it's very different but does the 95x will sound noticeably better than 4xx and 6xx like night and day sound quality improvement?

Mohannad13There is no direct comparison. What the Koss does, it does really well. If you play music without a great deal of bass, I prefer the Koss. If there is a good amount of bass in the music, the 6XXX is better. The Koss will always image better, but it just lacks the bass response.

Mohannad13This all comes down to what you appreciate most in sound reproduction. If your music has a substantial bass content, particularly low bass, you will probably be happier with the 6XXX. If you value balance between your highs and lows, the 6XXX is probably the better headphone as well. But if you appreciate a wide soundstage and great dynamics in the mid and upper ranges, the Koss is probably the better headphone. Pick your poison.
