I bought these on a whim to satisfy the cynical part of me thinking that all the reviews hyping these up were just that - hype. No way something that size, let alone price, could sound as good as they say. That cynical part of me is off sulking somewhere now. These are *unbelievably* good for the money. And it's not a case of "oh, they're nice-ish, but when you consider the price they're fantastic". No, they genuinely sound great. If they had cost seven times as much I'd have been complaining about the build quality, but still not the sound. The sound is very even frequency wise (although a bit U-shaped), surprisingly detailed with no sibilance and the bass is satisfyingly present and punchy given the size and openness. The soundstage is excellent. If I had to criticize the sound I'd say the mids are very slightly recessed (the U-shape I mentioned) and there is a very slight unevenness in the treble. The only other downsides to these are the cheap build quality (the cable feels like it wouldn't survive a particularly strong yanking) and the weird form factor. But that's nitpicking and, at the price, completely unjustified and unfair. They're not perfect or a miracle by any means - they won't be replacing my HD6XXs or my IEMs for deep critical listening. However, if you're after something cheap, light and portable that won't have you grimacing at poor tonality or some other obvious flaw, I can't imagine anything that's money better spent than this. Aside from that, if you're even mildly into audiophilia and you have $20 to spare, buy these, if only for the kick of being amazed at how something so small and cheap can take on your more expensive gear. You won't regret it.
