I had mine for more than four years already and they are still in good shape. I wish they will tell us what exactly makes this new cable better than the older version.

Looks to me like they do tell you what's new. The connector's got some strain relief, which looks like a spring, and the Y-connector is less flimsy. On top of that, the cable's thicker. That much is all pretty obvious from the description and pictures.
