Just received. Sound pretty forking good when hooked to my phone. Nice bottom end growl I was not expecting. One semi-serious issue, tho. I have tried two different conventional TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) 1/4 inch adapters so I can plug these into my DAC's and preamps throughout the house. The 4 conductor TRRS (tip-ring-ring-sleeve) plug does not line up correctly with either of them. I get Left/Right out of phase blended mono (no center image, same signal in both ears). Anyone else run into that and have a remedy?
UPDATE: Just tried a third adapter, the one that came with my Sennheiser HD6xx's. It likes that one better. Stereo restored. Of course the other adapters work fine with everything else. Problem solved. (Note: the exact same adapter arrived with my HIFIMAN HE4xx headphones. It works, too.)
UPDATE UPDATE: I now know way more than I ever wanted to about this issue. Added the TRS/TRRS info to the original text. I also found a better solution, one which also addresses the cable length of the Porta Pro X. These cables from Amazon work well when used together. The first one takes 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5 TRS, dropping the mic channel.  YCS Basics 3.5mm Smartphone TRRS Headset To TRS Headphones Adapter (Removes the microphone channel) The second one is a 3.5mm TRS to 6.35mm TRS adapter. It's 3 feet long which also extends the short cable  of the Port Pro. BATIGE Aluminum 6.35mm 1/4 Inch Stereo Plug Male to 3.5mm Stereo Jack Female Socket Headphone Extension Cable (3ft)

tftdguruThe 3.5mm to 1/4" that came with my V-Moda Crossfades works great with the Koss headphones when I connect them to my SE amps. I don't think the adapters are TRRS to TRS, but the connectors line up just right and I have no issues.

tftdguruI LOVE the sound of the Porta Pros, especially from my Dragonfly Red (I'm on the go a lot). I've got 598's that I enjoy, but compared to the Porta Pros they now sound bright, which is crazy because they're a pretty warm headphone, but the Porta Pros have just ruined me. Should I go for the 6XX or the 4XX, in your opinion? Or are they both just going to be even brighter than the 598's and I should just stick to the Porta Pros because they're nearly perfect?

creaturekyleI have three recent Massdrop headphones and there's a place for all of them in my life. For sheer musicality and comfort, the HD6xx's do it for me. For a slightly brighter, faster response, the HE4XX are great, but not as comfortable on my head as the HD6XX's. The PortPro's are just fun to use with my phone and have a sexy bottom end. Oddly enough, for me they are the least comfortable of the 3. Yes they are light weight, but I have a large melon sized head and most supraaural cans annoy me. These are no exception, even with full pressure relief setting. I prefer the PortaPro's to any IEM's I own, including First Harmonic IEB6, Thinksound TS02 with mic and upgraded foam tips, and some Brainwaves model. (nice case). Why? Only the IEB6's are more comfortable than the PP's, because they are tiny. Can't wear any IEM's for long or too frequently as it bothers my ears too much.

tftdguruGrab yourself a parts-express headband. Search "Parts Express Mini Headphones" - you can remove the drivers that come with it and toss them. The drivers fit directly and you'll have a lot less pressure on your ears. I have never been a fan of the stock band that comes with PortaPros.

sanelson92I finally did this. It's a big improvement in comfort. I don't like the overall cheap appearance when done, but it makes them much more useful for me.
